Well I was obviously clueless, for I learn now that tonight this friday is the last episode of LATE NIGHT WITH CONAN O'BRIEN, for Conan is taking over TONIGHT SHOW from Leno on June 1.

Some time back I did a RRA LOVES TV column (more a fanboy rambling) on CONAN, and we gotta remember that when he got the gig in 1993, O'Brien was terrible and was supposed to be cancelled. He was saved only because NBC had nobody contracted to replace him, and so Conan had a regular routine of signing contracts for weeks at a time until he and his program got better, more comfortable with itself, and found its role niche as one of the great comedic programs on television.

So lets salute the 16 years of LATE NIGHT WITH CONAN O'BRIEN, which gave us "In the Year 2000," The Masturbating Bear, Pimpbot 5000, Andy Richter, and of course...

So long, and thanks for the fish!
