Mig is gonna get buried (in snow) next week. LN, I think you're too far west to be impacted. klydon, you may be too far east to get a lot of snow.
Mig, stock up on your SpaghettiO's. There's a good chance you'll see more than a foot of snow next Tuesday. Looks like I'll miss the blizzard. Hang in there, mig and goombah. We got about 5" of snow yesterday, followed by freezing rain, which made clearing the driveway difficult. Usually, I could push the fresh snow off, but this snow was heavy (commonly called the "heart attack snow"). My son and I shovelled out my next door, who are spending the week in sunny Southern California. If you let it go untouched and let it freeze, you almost need a pick to get it. I had to do that yesterday. My arms are so sore. SC, Please tell me you are teasing me.

Lake-effect snow alerts in area

A lake-effect snow warning is in effect this morning for northwest Indiana, as well as a lake-effect snow advisory for Lake and Cook Counties in Illinois.
Snow is expected to hit just as the morning's rush hour gets under way, working its way through the city and to the southern areas of Cook County between 5 and 7 a.m., leaving possibly an inch on areas roads.
The National Weather Service doesn't expect this band of snowfall to be significant, but enough to create slick road conditions.
As much as 1 1/2 feet could fall in Porter County, Ind., and a half foot in Lake County.
The system should end by early Wednesday, said Gino Izzi from the National Weather Service.
"It depends on the wind direction. If you get a shift of 10 degrees, we could see the Loop get 4 inches. It all depends how and if the wind shifts," he said. "But the model right now shows a direct hit at Porter and Lake Counties."
