House prices here have totally taken a dive. The 2/2 home I sold for almost 300,000 is now foreclosed and they are asking 76,500. Can you freekin' believe it? I laughed at the fact that I sold the dump (not really a dump, but for that price). I knew it was ridiculous, but that's what it appraised at. Fortunately, unlike most people, I moved "down" in terms of space. I just had to think of "me." Therefore, I think I was smart to put a large sum down and have a lower payment on my condo, which btw, is in a very desirable area. I am at least not upside down on my mortgage.
I am in a condo (apartment conversion to condo) and I love it. It is absolutely for me. I hate yard work and outside maintenace type thing. This was a good move on my part.
