I remember when I first saw GF1 in '72 in it's premiere in NYC, when Barzini got whacked by Neri, the audience went wild.

Insofar as mob movies go, the "Murder by Baptism"
scene is not only a classic but masterfully done as well. Very dramatic and poignant.

BTW, the term "whacked" wasn't used in the "good old days."
