Hackman has disappointed me lately. He's such a good actor and hasn't worked much recently (or at least hasn't picked good roles). The only thing I think he did that was worthwhile in the last dozen years, or so, was playing the lawyer in "Runaway Jury". Hackman is amazing in The Royal Tenenbaums (2001). I think it's a very good and interesting role at the least. One of the best comedic performances I've seen in the past twenty five years or so. I agree with this completely, The Royal Tenenbaums is one of my top ten all time movies. Definitely watch it SC, I think you'll enjoy the sense of timing and odd humor.
