I do have to say that our lifestyle doesn't allow our dependence on cars to be cut as easily. For example, I live in suburban NY. The average commute time is 45 minutes. There isn't a European in the world who would drive that far to work. Thanks to suburban sprawl and the lack of sidewalks, we can't walk to the local deli to buy a quart of milk without risking our lives. Our public transportation system sucks, which forces more people into their cars.

We need to rethink our way of life, not just buy hybrids.

When it first hit 3.85 my hubby topped off the tank. It was at the 3/4 full mark. Just to fill my Ford Focus up from that point it costed 24 bucks.

You don't know how many items at work we can't get from manufacturers that are back ordered. These are items that are not only all made of plastic, but may have one small item in it that's plastic. People don't want to hear us say we can't get the stuff. Pharmacy items especially. It's been a crazy couple of weeks at work because of this. We also had an item that was made in China that they weren't shipping to us for about 2 weeks. This was before the earthquakes. I can only imagine how long we'll get them now.

How can these shit heads live with themselves?

I just finished listening to Michael Medved's radio show and he is sarcastically criticizing the Senate for questioning oil company executives. His sarcasm and criticism is one reason that the Republicans will probably loose more seats in the Congress and the White House as well. He and Republicans don't understand that most voters are not going to be assiduously analyzing al the issues between now and November. Most are going to base their vote on alot of emotion and high gas prices are a very emotional topic.

Emotions, plus their empty wallets.

Well gas where I live is still below $4 unless you get the expensive stuff that just passed the $4 mark. I buy the expensive stuff for both of my trucks. Yeah most on here will probably call me nuts like a lot of people I work with. But oh well I've never been one to complain about the gas prices, which is a good thing cause right now my primary truck is a gas guzzler, it only gets 13 MPG 14 if I'm extremely lucky.

I'd say it's going to keep getting worse and people will get increasingly desperate and prices will continue to rise along with crime and then the stock market will crash.

Not sure how long that will take though.

Point taken. I've been very fortunate and I'm grateful for my success, but that doesn't mean I shouldn't be angry about the price of gas.

We went to a party in Flanders, NJ today. On the way down, we passed a Shell station. We have a Shell account that reimburses us 5% off of all Shell gasoline purchases. The price was $3.75 per gallon, so we made a note to gas up on the way home. On our way back, the price had changed to $3.77! The sad part is that we were grateful.

Okay, so ask me how much I paid for gas today? Go a head ask??? $4.13. Last Thursday it was 3:90 something. My friend said she went by a station during lunch hour yesterday and it was 4:03 and when she passed the same station on her way back from lunch it was 4:10????? I'm pissed!!!!

HEADLINE: CALIFORNIA WOMAN RAMS CAR INTO GAS STATION
At 7:30 am in the quiet town of Silicon City a large fireball ascended over the intersection of Valee Road and Rudy Way. The cause - an enraged valley woman drove her car into several gas pumps in an apparent protest over the rising cost of gasoline. The woman driver has not been apprehended. She has become the object of a three-county search by local and state police.

The woman, who was described by several witnesses as petite and demure, first entered the gas station and asked several people there to "stand back" as she related to them her intention of ramming the gas pumps. They said it was clear that she was concerned for the patrons of the station but was very serious in her intentions to take out her wrath on the pumps. After careening into the pumps she was heard yelling out the window, "I'm sorry, but someone's got to do it!"

On Tuesday a gas station about a mile away was charging $3.79. Today at a different station I paid $3.89, which is pretty much the going rate where I live.

Gas prices may hit $2.00 here on Long Island.

The state has OK'd a plan for some gas stations to post HALF GALLON prices because they have old pumps (non-digital) that won't allow them to post prices above $4.00.

One of the local stations near me has been selling gas for $3.99 because he has the old pumps (while everyone else around him is selling their gas for $4.09 and up). He's obviously losing money.

At the moment, it's $1.60! It will be $2.00 by the end of the week. Our new government will be thrown out after one term I reckon. The first since 1924 or something, to be kicked out of office after only serving one term!
