Are you bringing Adriana back??

Some analysts are predicting that the price of gas will reach $200 a barrel by 2010 (its currently $123).

That's on my list of things to do.

$200 will come sooner than that I'm afraid.

Instead of driving to pay my water bill I walked to the water dept. and paid it.

I'll tell ya Mig, I am recently taking a little extra notice myself. \:\/ I use to get in my car during my lunch hour (since I don't live close enough to go home anymore) and go shopping or browsing thru a very nearby mini mall. Now...I'll park my car in a nearby grocery store lot and/or take a short walk to that same store to pick up an orange juice or something. I am definitely making a conscious effort NOT to waste too much gas.

$3.85 for regular here now. I'm seeing a lot of "4"'s on the higher grades all over the place. \:o

How many times do you guys fill your car tank in a month? I have to understand why so many of you feel so strongly about the gas price rise from $3 to $4.

Personally, I fill my tank once a week, but my husband fills his 3 times a week, so that means that we're filling up the cars about 18 times a month.

Phew, I'm not quite that bad, Babe.

I have two gas eaters. I know, it's not very "green" of me, but I'm an enigma.

A Lincoln Navigator, which I fill up about once every two weeks and a Cadillac Sedan DeVille, which I fill up about once a week. So, all-in-all, about 120-130 gallons a month.

My husband commutes 125 miles round trip to his office. Even though his car gets about 28 mpg on the highway, he still only makes a few trips on a tank. On top of that, we got my daughter a car for her upcoming birthday/graduation. We presented her with a full tank, told her that $15 a week of gas is on us, and the rest is up to her.

I told my husband that even if he took a significant cut in pay, he would still do better if he got a job closer to home.

When stock prices can fluctuate in seconds, why is it surprising to see the oil prices change overnight. As long as there is a demand (or at least a projected one), there will be increase in oil price on a regular basis. Or that is how I understand it.

Exactly. Even more, if someone has something to sell, its price reflects what someone will pay for it. You need look no further than eBAY for a manifest illustration.

Twice a month for each car, 4 times total per month.

maybe about 20 gallons each time, so that dollar equals about $40 a month.

I do a lot of driving for work and family, about 1200-1400 miles per week. I pay roughly $150-$170 per week at the pumps. My wife pays about $40/week.

I can understand people's frustrations that's for sure.

The other day I got gas at a nearby station during my lunch hour. As I was waiting in line, a lady comes in and tells the clerk that her pump didn't work. Turns out the lady (evidently) gave the wrong pump number and $10.00 to the clerk and someone else pumped her gas. \:o The clerk was really very unsympathetic saying, "I can't do anything about it". The woman is saying "what about my ten buck?" I really don't know what the clerk could have done, but she really just blew the lady off without even looking into it.

I can see where an incident like this, with prices as high as they are could cause a person "on the edge" (or not) to explode.

What could the clerk have looked into? Maybe it was a scam. I just don't see how anyone can drive up to a pump and just start pumping. The logistics in doing so don't make sense.

When I was in my teens and in college, pumping gas was a really common job for a young guy to have. What with self service and credit cards, I guess those jobs just don't exist anymore.

Don't laugh, but I remember as a teenager, cruising around with friends (the lucky ones who had a car), digging up all of our pocket change for gas. I think gas was, at that time what? About 35 cents a gallon? Everyone chipped in a quarter and we'd be crusing around for a couple hours.

Ahhhhh! Those WERE the days!! smile

Thats funny!!

I remember, even as recently as the late 60's, the price of gas at 29ยข per gallon (there were gas-wars driving the price down when I was in college). Five guys in a car, crusing all night for a buck!!

Btw, my first posting of an "image" since Geoff updated. I took the chance that this was NOT a "floating" image. Don't know what that is. I can ask on the other thread if you want, but if it works this time I'm good. grin
