I didn't qualify because unbeknownst to me, my father claimed me as a dependent on his return (so for that reason, I'm ineligible).
Were you still in college this year Irishman? That would be why he could still claim you. This is the first year I couldn't claim my daughter. It sucked.
On the flip side of that I thought I was only getting $300.00 back and I got $600.00 back. I went on the IRS's website and calculated what I should get and it said only $300.00. But I checked my account yesterday and there was $600.00 in it. That was a lovely surprise to get on a Friday morning. [/quote]
I graduated in December of 2007 so yes, I did just finally finish. But I don't understand why I'd be ineligible? I could understand my father being ineligible for claiming me but I don't think it's fair for me to be ineligible (I can't control the way my father files his taxes).
