Over the past week I've been taking a course offered by my company to help project managers get their PMP certification. So much of what was taught in this course was literally the same thing Vito was teaching Tom and others: don't take things personally, always be reasonable, ignore insults, try to find the real interest behind your opponent's position, reframe problems, ask for your opponent's help, try to avoid saying no, agree without conceding, don't threaten people, don't take rigid positions, etc... If he hadn't been a Mafia Don, Vito Corleone might have had a promising future as a project manager..
"When the snows fall and the white winds blow, the lone wolf dies but the pack survives." Winter is Coming
Now this is the Law of the Jungle—as old and as true as the sky; And the wolf that shall keep it may prosper, but the wolf that shall break it must die. As the creeper that girdles the tree-trunk, the Law runneth forward and back; For the strength of the Pack is the Wolf, and the strength of the Wolf is the Pack.
