It brings back memories from when Iwas in grade school...nobody wanted to be Jesus; they wanted to be centurions. One year Jesus was portrayed by a plump fifth grader with curly red hair, who was a bit of a bully. When it was time to depict the forty lashes, the boy, hho played the Roman, ignored his instructions and let Ben have a good whack in the lower back.

The young Jesus let out a cry, turned and knocked his assailant on his ass, took the lash from him, and began beating the Roman until the disciples were able to break it up. The CCD teacher Mrs. Meyers, was mortified because Fr. Priorkowski was present for the rehersal.

When order was restored, Father Priorkowski broke the tension by asking Mrs. Meyers, "What gospel are you basing your play on?"
