You're making an assumption. Do you know what happens when you assume?

Short pants and now a comeback like that.

Is it worth it?

Is it really worth it?

"Chinest" is a typo; I was typing fast. It's/its is a common and inexcusable grammatical error.

I only brought it up because it was typed twice on the same page, without correction the second time round.

For job candidates who have to fly out of state for a live interview, is it proper procedure for the candidate or the company to pay for the flight expenses? I thought it would be the company but apparently this potential company is telling me it's on my shoulders.

It probably depends on whether you're going for a $40,000 job or a $400,000 job \:D

Not a good sign.... the company should pick up your travel expenses for an interview.

That's what my father said. Here's a difference in price between this Thursday or Friday and next Tuesday. A flight on Delta on either this Thursday or Friday will run a little over $1,600. A flight on Delta next Tuesday will run a little over $400. Yeah, guess which one I'm going with.

So you're gonna spend hundreds of dollars w/o a guarantee of getting the job? Did you at least go through some phone interviews so it looks likely you'd get it, or did they just say "come in and we'll talk"? If the latter, I'd think really hard about spending your money...

Actually no, it's an entry level position. It's incredibly tough to get a job in the sports industry so I'm just trying to get anything I can right now just to get my foot in the door.

That's exactly what I was thinking. And if I don't get the job I'm stuck with the bill whereas the company could right it off as a business expense. However, with this company I've had two phone interviews with two different individuals. It sounds promising and I look forward to joining the organization but again, just telling me I have to pay for it is putting me off. Now I have to find the money between now and next Tuesday.

They should definitely pay your travel expenses. I'd tell them if they don't pay for your travel you don't want the job.

I'm looking for a job...the old guy I was taking care of is in the hospital now.

Sorta, but I was getting $10 an hour to basically help him shower, get dressed, make his breakfast, look up porn on the internet for him, a snack in the afternoon, and that's it. Towards the end he kept getting worse and worse, he could barely move around anymore and he couldn't move that great to start with.

So now that I am out of a job my car needs $500 worth of work plus new tires.

Don't forget to keep all records of such expenses associated with getting a job. They're deductible. Plane fare, taxis, meals, parking, etc.

I had the crap scared out of me this morning. I couldn't find my wallet. I tore my house apart no wallet. I looked in my car and thank God I found it. It was under the front passenger seat. I have no idea how it got there.

That's what I heard. Can I claim this trip as a business expense at the end of the year? I was also thinking today that maybe it's a test by the company. Maybe they'll reimburse me when I get up there and they just wanted to see if I'd make the sacrifice to meet them. Who knows?

I always hate to break up a conversation in this thread with a random thought, but it's about 2 o'clock in the morning and everyone else in the house is asleep except the cats. So therefore I have nothing else to do but let my mind wander from one lightning quick thought to the next. One that stood out to me is:

Is it possible for people to hiccup in their sleep?

I think people do just about everything else including getting up and walking around and talking etc... but I've never heard someone get the hiccups while they sleep.
