PTA does a great job balancing two interwoven stories and his use of those long one-shots (mostly noticeably towards the beginning) were well enjoyed on my part. It can be quite a task to divide proper time to develop each story throughly but this works for him much like it worked for Steven Soderbergh in TRAFFIC but failed for Stephen Gaghan with SYRIANA.
