The killing of Fabrizzio was actually filmed twice. In the first scenario, filmed for Part I, Michael himself shoots Fabrizzio (using the same lupara which Fabrizzio had formerly used to guard Mike with in Sicily). Michael was wearing a white fedora, and a still photo from this scene became one of the movie's best known. The scene was cut out of the movie before its release. For Part II Fabrizzio is killed by a car bomb (after he left his pizzeria). This scene was cut, but added back into the Saga version. (not THE picture, but this was taken from the scene deleted from Part I - photo from Geoff's website - ) [ July 31, 2001: Message edited by: SC ]

I always seem to defend the book as I always say nearly any book is better than any movie based on it. Im still yet to be proven wrong. But many people in here would still prefer the Godfather movie to the novel. Books can go on for aslong as the writer likes, if its good enough the reader will read it. But movies have to entertain a new audience of people, many of whom have shorter attention spans so the average film length is around 2 hours. For some films/epics they can aproach the 3 hour mark. Its not often they go on for longer than that and still keep the attention of the viewer. So therefore many scenes that could have been included never make it into the movie. Imagine if all that crap with Docter Jules Sagel was included in the movie. Have I actually made a point or is this pointless banter?

Do we ever get to see the bit with michael in the white hat, killing fabrizio with the lupara?

yeah, he was in the car with Apollonia and the car exploded. I thought he had been in the car also in the movie, but then I saw GFIII, so aparently he wasn't. (But we see him go behind the car. Wouldn't he get hit by flying pieces? unless he can run really fast)
