Is it "Back To Sorrento" (don't know the exact Italian title, maybe just Sorrento). There was an English version by Elvis called Surrender....starts out slow and becomes intense. I am curious too. Give us more details. Don't know if it's considered opera, but I know tenors have sung it in Italian.
