I've never heard "gravy" either - and my grandparents were from Sicily and Calabria. But I have no problem with the term referring to meat added to sauce I suppose..
"Gravy" to me means the typical brown gravy, or, turkey gravy.
Otherwise it's spaghetti sauce
I studied Italian for 2 semesters. Not once was a "C" pronounced as a "G", and never was a trailing "I" ignored! And I'm from Jersey! lol
