Hi SC!

Well, you know my history with sports, but obviously I know nearly all listed and considered their popularity and recollections of media coverage, etc. Afterall, for me, not being into sports, just knowing the name very well, tells me how good they must have been. I went with Hank Aaron, Ali, and Babe Ruth.

For singer, without a doubt, my number one, Elvis, followed by the Beatles and Sinatra. Yet, a lot good people on the ist, and some not on the list that I'm not thinking of.


For actors, that was very hard for me. I put Pacino and DeNiro even though I'm not so pleased with some of their recent work, they certainly have been powerful and excellent actors in most of their roles and definitely left their historic mark. I'd consider them "tops."

I checked "other" for my third choice, because I guess I'm picky. I would have to think about it, because their are so many to choose from, I have a feeling I'm forgetting someone.

ALI, for being awesome, and a muslim of great character.
JORDAN, because he is/was still the greatest of all time in his field.
BABE, for his curse! haha! =) I love Babe Ruth,and athletes that don't do steroids! and I love the Yankees.

Beatles are self-explanatory, you could listen to those songs now and the melodies are priceless.

Elvis because I love his voice.

And Michael Jackson because he is clearly the greatest pop star of all time. I could seriously listen to Thriller like 6 times in a row.



The actors were harder

I had to go with DeNiro and Pacino. For obvious reasons.

And Audrey Hepburn because she was magical.

Ali, Jordan, and Ruth were obvious in sports. Those guys smashed their respective sports and rearranged them to their liking.

Dylan's influence and fingerprints are all over "the" singer-songwriter, so there's no question he should be top 3. The Beatles are the same as they will probably never go away. Elvis is there for exposing America to it all and being a huge juggernaut.

Brando is simply amazing and his impact on the acting game goes without saying. Gregory Peck was simply magnificent in anything he touched, so I definitely give him his props, and De Niro as the standard bearer for these last few decades.

Sinatra, Presley and the Beatles. I think their impact was the most widely felt, but it's all a matter of opinion.

Dylan was brilliant, but possibly divisive to some, with very little cross-over appeal to people who aren't fans of his particular genre.

I'm trying to become a New Yawker but you said I can't.

I didn't fill out the sports star poll, because I don't watch sports and generally don't know very much about them.

For musicians, I went with Pink Floyd (no idea why I'm the only one so far), Bob Dylan, and The Beatles. James Brown came close to getting my vote, as well.

For actors, I went with Brando, Chaplin, and "other" for James Dean. I feel like Dean should've really been on that list... I credit him along with Brando for introducing "dramatic" acting. It's just a shame that Dean only had three films under his belt before his death, and resultantly, isn't really remembered as widely for playing a part in the revolution of screen-acting.

Speaking of Bogey, I was watching some show last night and they showed this young model. You had to guess who her famous grandparents were. I said she looked an awful lot like Lauren Bacall. I guessed she was Bacall and Bogey's grand daughter.

And she was.

I chose Ali, Jordan and Ruth for sports like most of you, but I really wanted to fit Wayne Gretzky in there. I still believe he has the best nickname, "The Great One".

I wonder who chose 'other' for that category and who were they thinking of?

I picked other (along with my two choices) for actor because I wanted Meryl Streep on there.

Just kidding SB. She's an excellent actress. Personally not one that I would consider great, but by all means an oustanding actress.
