A bit of an embarrassing week for Newcastle. Although I won't miss him, the way in which Allardyce went is a travesty.

Further proof that Newcastle operates on the same humiliating lines as the England team: 1) its fans think they have a divine right to silverware, which they don't; 2) media expectations are high; 3) the (frequent) search for managers is handled abysmally.

Approaching Harry Redknapp was an awful decision anyway; he is at Portsmouth what Allardyce was at Bolton. He's hardly a successful manager. Do they learn anything? So, England approach Scolari, he shuns them, so they appoint McLaren, who was in the first place a second choice decision. Now that Redknapp has publicly announced he was approached by Newcastle and has now shunned them, it doesn't look very good for whoever they do approach.
