In parts of western PP they call it pop;it's soda in the rest of the state.

Where I grew up in Northeastern PA, funeral homes were commonly called "corpse houses." I still hear this term from older people. Also, when they order a pizza, they order it as "a tray of pizza."

I call it pop.

A tray of pizza sounds weird to me.

In the UK we call it pop as well!
The kids call it fizzy pop....which is pretty self-explanatory really!

If you're thinking Chicago accent, think Chicago-born Dennis Franz saying, "NYPD Blue will be right bee-ACK..."

If you called soda "pop" in Brooklyn, you'd be a candidate to have your wallet removed by the candy store proprietor, or his hangers-on.

In New York, it's a hero sandwich. In most other places, a sub. In New England, a grinder. In the South, a hush-puppy.

This isn't the best quality photo, but I love the chemistry of it. It is me teaching my stepson how to shave for the very first time while Mom in the background is taking all kinds of pictures while she just smiles and smiles that her son is starting to become a man. Off to the side, out of picture, is his two sisters who wouldn't keep quiet, "He's SHAVING?!? OMG!"

I remember the first time my Dad taught me how to shave so this is a special picture to me since I am now the adult.

GREAT photo! Mom did everything perfect - except get herself in the shot. ;\) But maybe you could've done this sooner since he already seems to have a full mustache before his first shave! lol ;\) But yeah - great shot! How old is he?

Nice photo Blibble, but what is there to teach in shaving? I can understand if it was one of those flat rectangular stainless steel blades* that my father used for good part of his life. Today's razors are so smooth and safe that one has to make an effort to cut oneself \:\/ And the direction of shaving too hardly matters with these razors.

Well, you know, simple things are daunting when you've not done them before. How much to put on, how to stroke safely, etc. I still fuck both of those things up.

Cool pic, anyway. Ya know, Blib, you could do with a shave yourself. \:p

What a nice picture Bibble. It's those small moments that are so special. Just from your post, it sounds like you have a great relationship with your stepson. \:\)

Although I never had boys and can't relate in the same exact way, I do remember showing my girls how to shave their legs. I wouldn't let them use razors at first and insisted they use the electric shaver so they wouldn't cut themselves. \:D But, it was one of those "My baby is growing up" moments. \:\)

BTW, I've always used electric razors. It's so much faster and with no mess. And it's just as close as a razor -- without the blood. \:p

You're right, and he probably could have figured out the shaving cream and all that himself just from seeing a commercial or two, but being "taught" with the family around to experience it and be excited for him is part of the fun. I think it's more of the ritual, growing into a man, that makes it special.

You couldn't have just stripped him down naked, covered him in goat's blood, dropped him off in the middle of the forest, and told him to "have at it"? You know, like normal people?

He is thirteen and refuses to shave his mustache. He loves it. I think it's because he is the only one at school (not to mention the tallest by at least a foot) with one. I think the girls like it (or at least he thinks so ).
