Yea, I have ordered a couple "used" books from Amazon through somebody else and am a little more leary. Fortunately however, so far, I haven't had a problem, but for the most part when I buy new (which is 99 per cent of the time), I'll go directly with Amazon. I've become comfortable ordering from them. Plus, the last month or so I probably paid someone's salary, they better treat me good.

If anyone is familiar with the Genmay forums (I'm not expecting you should, it's not really the kind of thing most people here would be into), there's a thread over there where this guy buys a microwave off amazon, shows up with a broken lock mechanism, he uses it anyways, and his cat gets into it while he's making burritos, and the cat dies.

It's more than likely a fake story, a lot of the threads there are presumably members making up elaborate, twisted stories for shits and giggles, but it's entertaining as hell.

Anyway, this conversation just reminded me of that.

One of the three known U.S. veterans of WWI died yesterday. He was 109 years old.

My grandfather fought in WWI. He died at age 81 in 1969. My father still has his artillery helmet, which is cast iron.

My memories of him are vague, but the only story I remember him telling about his war experience involved the capture of German soldiers. As they were led to confinement, he noticed that one had quickly snatched a piece of fruit that was near him. My grandfather then realized how hungry these guys were, and gave them his rations, which were devoured. He thought it was odd that moments before they were exchanging gunfire, and the next moment his heart bled for them.

The two surviving WWI vets must have been kids when they went overseas.

I believe there is only one UK WWI vet left and he is 106ish!

It's one of those things you can't really appreciate unless you have a certain sense of humor and have been exposed to that site for a while. No body gives a shit if any of it is fake, it's all just too damn funny.

There are some real threads, plenty of them, actually... One of which involving a guy who was looking for something on his friends computer, and came across pictures of his friend having sex with his dog. How do we know this is real? Well... The guy posts pictures of his friends penis going into his dog's ass.

There's also a thread with video footage of two senior citizen's getting it on in a park.

I'm unclear whose dog it was - he was poking his own dog, or his friend's dog? (I suppose it doesn't matter much ) Sounds like a wholesome place!

How do you pronounce Genmay? It's such an ugly word. It's like "Germany", "Gay" and "Gender" combined.

One of my favorite threads was when this guy posted a link to this website that sends you empty boxes in the mail, inside larger boxes, and those boxes inside even larger boxes, and so on... Everyone just started picking random names from the phone book, and mailing out series of boxes.

Oh, and there was another thread where this guy discovered a glitch in Pizza Hut's online-ordering feature, and people were ordering like, ten pizza's at a time for free. They fixed the glitch, eventually, but it was pretty fucking funny while it lasted.

Thanks Klyd, I will. We don't get to see our doughter except for a couple times a year since she lives in VA. I'm picking up my older son tomorrow and bringing him back for Christmas. Me and the Col. and the 3 babies together again plus 2 dogs. WooHoo!!

A month of vacation? The only time I've ever been off for a month I was unemployed and miserable. I can't imagine having a real vacation for a month... or even a full week at this point.
