My uncle, definitely. He's got this onion-smelling, swathy skin with grey hairs and bushy, murderer's eyebrows.

All the way through eating him I'd be thinking of his hairy sack, back and crack.

The first person who came to mind for me was the former Chairman of the Board of the non-profit I used to work for. He had obviously spent too many hours in the sun and was very leathery. I imagined that he would be all gristle.

Once the flesh is properly roasted, it bears little resemblance to its human form, and the taste is fairly uniform....or so I am told.

Seriously, I guess we can't answer that question unless we are subjected to the dire situation that would warrant consideration of cannibalism. The question becomes easier to answer perhaps if we were to ask whether we would feed human flesh to our kids if their lives depended on it.

The South American soccer team, mentioned above, reminded me of an old 18th or 19th century English case that involved a merchant vessel sinking in the South Atlantic. Four crewmen and a young teenage boy, a hired servant, were sailing for weeks on a small raft or lifeboat. The boy was weakening and declining as he became delirious and fell in and out of consciousness.

The four (I think it was four) men, knew they had to eat soon, and realized that this boy was near death. Facing their own mortality, the men killed the boy and were about ready to carve him up when a ship rescued them.

The men were charged with murder. All I remember is that an Appeals court overturned the decision of the lower court, but I don't remember the outcome.

I would do it in a heartbeat, klyd, and without thinking twice. I don't know if I could KILL another human to survive, but if they're already dead, why not?? And we, in our comfortable lives, underestimate the power of hunger, REAL hunger.

I also read the book after seeing the movie, as well as the book Miracle in the Andes by Nando Parrado, one of the survivors that walked down the mountain. It was fascinating. What I thought was interesting was how inspired they were by their faith.

I get cravings once in awhile for marshmallow filled donuts. They are so not good for you, and I usually can fight the urge. There's a dunkin donuts next to the store I get my lottery tix and I walked right on by with a heavy heart. If I win the lottery I'll buy them by the crate full.

I never heard of or seen a marshmellow filled donut!

The Dunkin Donuts up here do not sell them. At least the one I go to doesn't. Interesting!

The other day I got a mad craving for Won-Ton soup! Don't know why I did. I eat it every once in a while but never go nuts for it. But the other day I just was craving it. So on the way home from work that night I stopped at a Chinese take-out that I never go to or order from. I figured Won-Ton soup is Won-Ton soup that can't be screwed up. Boy was I mistaken. It sucked. It was like they used heated up dishwater! And they skimmped big time on the roast pork.

Boy was I dissapointed! My craving went right down the drain along with that Won-Ton soup! \:\/

We must've been bitten by the same bug, DC. I was dying for wonton soup earlier this week. There's a takeout a few blocks from me, so I drove over, picked up two quarts and hurried home. It was TERRIBLE.

If you eat ONE TON of anything you're not gonna need to worry about weighing less.

That reminds me of the neighborhood in Baltimore City I used to live in called Canton. It breaks down to mean, "Can you eat a ton"?

Last January when I was in New York I got a hot pretzel with supposedly pizza sauce on it at Central park. It tastes like a can of tomato paste was thrown on it. I took two bites and threw it away. I might try one with cheese. It can't be as bad as that.

I guess this is the right thread.

I took the day off work yesterday, and decided to take the kids out for lunch. We wanted to go some place other than the neighborhood pub we usually visit. Of course, there was no unanimous choice as the names of Applebees, TGIF, CChili's and Red robin were thrown out there. As a compromise, we went to Friendly's. I hadn't been there in about 8 years.

I thought it was pretty good. I had a barbecued chicken sandwich on grilled sourdough bread with cheddar and bacon. It was better than I thought it would be.

Klyd, We used to love our local Friendly's. Then they must have gotten a new manager or something, because it became absolutely gross. My daughter ordered her favorite hot dog with macaroni and cheese, and the hot dog was actually green in spots. Needless to say, we haven't been back since. My older daughter went there a few weeks ago with some friends, and she said it was actually pretty good. Maybe we'll give it another whirl.

Klyd, a couple of months ago we went to visit a college for my son. It was in a small town and we obviously were not familiar with the local restaurants. So we figured that we'd eat at one of the commercial places. There was an Applebees, TGIFs, and a Friendly's. Not being big fans of Applebees or TGIF, we wound up at Friendly's. I had a fried chicken salad and I must admit that it was pretty good.

It was better than I thought it would be

A similar place that I also liked is Bob Evans'. I haven't been there in about 8 years and honestly don't know why.
