I think you'd love P-funk, DA. I think maggot Brain might be the best to start with, and eventually work your way into Standing on the Verge of Getting it On, then Mothership Connection, and Funkeltechy vs. the Placebo Syndrome.

Mothership Connection is a top 5-6 album of all time for me, but their best track overall is probably Wizard of Finance.
