It's really quite beautiful here. We've cooled down to the 80's. After a couple weeks of the 100's it's sunny and nice. It may still be a tad warm to "normal" people, but I think it's perfect. \:\)

Yeah, I'm in WV. It was in the triple digits here too, just last week. In fact, even a few days ago, it was at least 80 or 90. Then I woke up the next morning (afternoon) and I could see my breath. And it didn't warm up throughout the day like I thought it would. Craaaaaazay.

Tell me about it Mig!!! I'm a light sleeper anyway, but ever since I quit smoking, I'm waking up at 2/3:00 a.m. The thing is, I'm hyper during the day but by 8:00 or so I have to fight to stay awake. \:\/

I'm one who can "never" take naps no matter how little sleep I got, I'd never be able to sleep at night if I did. At least I got work to keep me awake. Lucky me!!!!

I'm happy to say that I'm going to be in Michigan for Thanksgiving visiting my family. \:\) I haven't been there for a holiday in a very long time. However, I'm insisting on an electric blanket so I don't freeze my arse off.

Should be fun....plus I do have a craving for my mom's cooking. I hope she's up to it. \:\)

I find it especially sad that he was able to give an articulate interview in the ring just after being knocked out. And then he went into a coma in his dressing room and never came out of it.

Moore went into a coma about an hour after the fight ended. He died a few days (weeks?) later... the autopsy showed that the cause of death was from his neck hitting the ring ropes... not from a punch.

Oddly enough, Emile Griffith (one of my favorite fighters), who had killed Benny Paret in the ring one year earlier, was on the same card that night that Moore fought.

Have you seen RING OF FIRE? Not only is it one of the best documentaries I've ever seen, when they filmed the part in St. Raymond's Cemetery, with Emile visiting Benny's grave with Benny's son, I was there picking up some paperwork. Nice guy.

THE CHAMP was originally made in the 30's with Jackie Cooper as the kid, then re-made in the late 70's with Jon Voight and Ricky Schroeder. I'm not sure who it was based on, if anyone.

It wasn't.

The original version of "The Champ" came out in the 1930's. Wallace Beery played the boxer. The film was remade years later with Jon Voight in the role of the fighter. (I liked the original better.... Jackie Cooper played the son BRILLIANTLY).
