There are of course intolerably bad films in any and every genre; but that doesn't make the genre itself any less or more valid.

Genres should never be a mark of quality, but of convention. I'm against "teen slasher" or "rom-com" being shorthand ways of saying a film's bad.

Though that doesn't mean they're not.
