Not to turn this to a tragedy thread, but this has been weighing on my mind.

I have a great Aunt who is 91. The woman is in perfect health, never had heart problems, surgeries. The only meds she is on is calcium pills and one baby aspirin a day (to help the heart I guess for precaution) That's it.
A few years ago when my daughter and family and I visitited we went to dinner with all the relatives. It was really nice when my cousin noted that this Aunt would be Great Great Great Aunt to my grandaughter. We had a picture taken of her holding my grandaughter.

Last week, while shopping with her great grandchildren, one of the little ones grabbed her purse in play, my Aunt fell down and hit her head. She immediately got up and said, "I'm fine." It wasn't til later that evening she complained of a horrible horrible headache. She asked to go to the ER. Next thing the family knows, she is on life support and the doctor says she is brain dead. (I guess bleeding in the brain or something, I don't know).

Her children (one of whom is a Priest) asked if there was any chance, and the doctor said he felt it "was beyond miracles."

The family chose to take her off life support last week and she is still alive at this point.
My cousins understandably feel overwhelmed with shock/grief and are saddened that there was no time at all to even say goodbye. I feel so badly for them. You just never never know how it will end. Makes me want to call my parents and just tell them I love them.
