My cousin recently put a bunch of old family videos on DVD, so I watched a bit - ..... There was no sound, but seeing them move around, talking and laughing with my parents...and my grandpa's expressions and gestures reminding me so much of how my dad is...wow.
We had that done some years ago and its a good thing we did... the old 8mm film had been deteriorating pretty badly (considering that it was over 50 years old). I watch the tape every so often and almost always get very emotional (seeing all those family members no longer alive).
