The son in the deleted scene with Francesca and her beau was Santino Jr., not Frank. And I, too, have no recollection in the novel that Sandra took off and wanted nothing to do with the family.

I don't know why, but I seem to recall some sort of reference made that one of the Santino boys was playing high school or college football in Florida. Do you recall ever hearing something like that in one of the deleted scenes?
