Since Michael got weaker, sicker and more vulnerable in III, it's not a coincidence that Connie (and Kay), portrayed as weak and wimpy in GF and II, were portrayed as stronger, more decisive, more assertive in III. In the wedding scene early in the novel, Puzo describes Connie as someone who was likely to become "shrewish" later in life. He was right.
