I think the fact that she's not a professional chef makes her more accessible to everyone. I can watch Emeril or any of the pros on tv, but I don't come away with the feeling that I can make my dish look like theirs just because they are the "pros". With Rachel she's just someone cooking in her kitchen, like you and me, so that makes me feel like maybe I'll try her recipes.
