I like Closer. It has a ridiculous pessimism to it that I found quite appealing, and it covers expansive temporal ground with conviction and ease simply by not making overt reference to the passing of time. (Compare it to the schematic way Ang Lee treats narrative in Brokeback Mountain, for instance.)
