Does anyone else consider the movie to be so sad like I do? It makes me sad when I watch it. It's an allegory for life.
It is one of my favorite movies. However I agree that it does have a sadness to it. One scene that stands out in my mind which I find very sad is towards the ending when Noodles visits Deborah. The music is perfect in the sense that it conveys the mood of what both Deborah and Noodles are feeling at that point. Leone seems to capture these sad moments throughout the film with some brilliant editing done with the music chosen to be played in those scenes.
No doubt that the movie has a melancholey air to it.
