As far as Paulie, it's rumored that Tony Sirico has a stipulation in his contract that Paulie can never become a rat.

I don't know that Tony would kill Chris over a woman, maybe something else ?

A NY-NJ war seems inevitable. A war with NY would mean severe casualties for Tony, no matter how you cut it. I don't think anyone is safe.
