I don't really rank songs like I would rank an album, because to me, the album is really an over-all artistic statement, rather than a collection of best songs recorded in a single grouping of recording sessions. But here's a shot at it. One song per artist, some songs that I can truly always turn to, others that are simply infatuations of the moment...

"Svefn-g-englar" - Sigur Rós
"Talk Show Host" - Radiohead
"Echoes" - Pink Floyd
"Sir Psycho Sexy" - Red Hot Chili Peppers
"Teeth Like Gods Shoreshine" - Modest Mouse
"Where Is My Mind" - The Pixies
"Street Hassle" - Lou Reed
"First Breath After Coma" - Explosions in the Sky
"I Am the Walrus" - The Beatles
"Melody 6" - Tera Melos

"Somebody told me when the bomb hits, everybody in a two mile radius will be instantly sublimated, but if you lay face down on the ground for some time, avoiding the residual ripples of heat, you might survive, permanently fucked up and twisted like you're always underwater refracted. But if you do go gas, there's nothing you can do if the air that was once you is mingled and mashed with the kicked up molecules of the enemy's former body. Big-kid-tested, motherf--ker approved."
