Truman was from Missouri -- Independence to be specific, a suburb of Kansas City just north of the city where I live.

I try to hit Dixon's at least once a month and this is the second President's Day in a row that I have eaten there so I guess it is a tradition

I got my chili the way Truman preferered -- over three tamales. I told the waitress (who probably served Truman himself) that I should get the President Day discount in honor of their favorite son and sure enough got my meal (and daughters) free. Of course, I tipped her well!
