Even though ECW is going down faster than the Titanic, I'm glad some of the guys I like are receiving pushes such as Elijah Burke and the Alpha Male Monty Brown (yeah, he's STILL Monty) Now if only Shelton Benjamin could receive his singles push on Raw and we could get those pesky tag titles on Cryme Tyme

Irish, you still don't understand why he got pushed earlier, and was demoted back to tag team duty.

He had no spark. He had no pop. Like Johnny Nitro, he was an empty champion.

Maybe that is why I've been so satisfied with the Jeff Hardy run with the IC belt. Unlike Nitro or Benjamin, Hardy has respect from the crowds. They love him. Also, Hardy isn't some reality TV-trained wrestler....

Has anybody watched Raw or Smackdown lately?

My TiVo didn't tape Raw on Thursday but I did catch TNA. I'll catch Raw at its regular time on Monday night

first off i know its been a looong time since i've been around.

i caught the end of smackdown friday, just the undertaker & batista vs. rated rko. i think taker and batista can beat cena and michaels tonight. as for WM-23, i think taker will beat batista, taker's huge popularity will have the writers keep him top dog, and i think michaels will beat cena, not just because both are fan favorites, but to stir up the fire with their tag team for when triple H returns.

Michaels will beat Cena but he'll probably get a rematch and beat Michaels.

Mike Awesome passes away

WWE is saddened by news of the passing of Mike Alfonso, better known to wrestling fans as Mike Awesome. He was 42.

Mike Awesome's first major exposure came overseas, where he became one of the Japan's top stars. Awesome would eventually become a star and champion in America while wrestling for Extreme Championship Wrestling. Following his successful run in ECW, Awesome spent time working in WCW and later WWE before retiring to his native Tampa, Florida.

While in ECW, Awesome was a two-time World Champion and Tag Team Champion. His matches with Masato Tanaka, including a show-stealer at One Night Stand in 2005 were among the most memorable in ECW history.

Oh thank God they are doinf a MITB 3 at WM. I was gettig the feeling they werent going to do it. I cant wait to go, I'm getting giddy already.

The return of Austin!

When it was announced last week that there would be a special guest referee for the "Hair vs. Hair" match, I was 99.9% certain it would be Austin. So even though I wasn't surprised when I heard the glass shatter, I was still pretty damn excited!

I get goosebumps every time he enters the arena. It's an ovation rivaled only by the likes of Hulk Hogan and The Rock.

It's a shame he will probably never wrestle again. Nevertheless, it's great to see him back on RAW. And he'll be appearing on ECW tomorrow. I'll actually have a reason to tune in, for once!

X, isn't it sad? 8-10 years ago you wouldn't DREAM of missing ECW (and I had to get up at 2 a.m. on a Saturday to see it), if you went to school on Monday and didn't know what happened on ECW you just felt stupid.

Now I'll walk in and out of the room when its on, turn it off, forget its even on at night lol

Indeed, DMC. It's a sad world we live in when ECW is actually the laughing stock of professional wrestling.

Sadly, the glory days of ECW are gone. We're now stuck with a watered down, "Sunday Night Heat-esque" version of what was once a great sports-entertainment organization.

ECW, the REAL ECW was never a laughing stock.....in 8th grade I'll never forget this we had a Rally for basketball. Basketball team went out first, I was the pointguard so I got to introduce everyone, as soon as they gave me the mic I said ECW as a joke, the gym errupts in ECW chants, 2 days of suspension later, I thought it was well worth it lol

Sunday Night Heat-esque is a great way to put it, its all the rejects from the other shows thrown onto there. They even managed to turn Sabu into a loser, Sandman is not the Sandman that I used to know and Tazz is an announcer

For some reason, I can imagine you doing something like that!



And that, in a nutshell, is the "new" ECW!

Bad News Allen dies suddenly

Former Olympic judo bronze medalist Allen Coage -- better known to wrestling fans as Bad News Allen and Bad News Brown -- has died suddenly. He was 63.

Coage died early Tuesday morning in Calgary at Rockyview Hospital, having been rushed to the hospital, complaining of chest pains.

Three weeks ago, Coage underwent hip replacement surgery and had been making progress on his recovery. Monday night, he was home alone and called longtime friend Gerry Morrow, complaining of chest pains. Morrow got him to the hospital.

Coage broke into professional wrestling through the New Japan Pro Wrestling organization, training in Japan and spending the first few years after the 1976 Montreal Olympics in that country.

He was a star in the Calgary Stampede promotion as Bad News Allen, having bloody feuds with the likes of The Dynamite Kid, Archie 'The Stomper' Gouldie, Bret Hart and others.

In the WWF of the late 1980s, he was known as Bad News Brown, and feuded with Bret Hart, Hulk Hogan and Roddy Piper.

He had been working the last number of years as a security guard at a mall; "Teenagers are a pain in the ass. You always have to run them off," he said in July 2006. Apparently they didn't know who they were messing with. "It don’t matter to them, they're tough."

Coage is survived by his wife Helen and their children.

Thats too bad, I still remember when Bret Hart broke his Trophy after the Battle Royal.

Me too. Or when Rowdy Roddy Piper eliminated him from the Royal Rumble from the outside when Piper just got eliminated. They faught all the way to the backstage area.

Sad news, indeed.

Regarding recent wrestling deaths, it looks as though both Bam-Bam Bigelow and Mike Awesome committed suicide. Bam-Bam had a full cocktail of drugs in his system (including cocaine), and it seems Mike Awesome hung himself.

It's sad when you read things like this...

Its incredibly sad about the high morbid rate among wrestlers.

And in other news...Kurt Angle is being investigated for steroid use. Here's the link . It's at the top of page 2.

I'm not surprised that Angle used steroids when his body was as wrecked and chaotic as Baghdad.

I'd be surprised if the vast majority of the guys aren't on steroids.

Ernie "Big Cat" Ladd passes away

WWE Hall of Famer Ernie Ladd passed away last night, according to TheNewsStar.com. Ladd, 68, had been battling cancer since 2004.

Professionally known as the �Big Cat,� Ladd was one of the premiere professional wrestlers of the 1960s and 1970s. Long-time fans in the Northeast particularly remember the havoc he wreaked in WWE throughout the �70s as one of the biggest names the territory had ever seen. Managed by the Grand Wizard, Ladd was a persistent challenger to WWE Champions Bruno Sammartino, Pedro Morales and Bob Backlund.

Prior to a successful career in sports-entertainment, Ladd earned fame as a dominant football player at both the college and pro level. He was a star lineman for Louisiana�s Grambling State University in the late �50s, and was recruited in 1961 by the AFL�s San Diego Chargers. He was a member of the Chargers� 1963 AFL Championship team, and appeared in four straight AFL All-Star Games from 1962-1965. In addition to the Chargers, he also played for the Houston Oilers and Kansas City Chiefs.
