Simple Olivant! Vito took as captain after Ralphie Ciferetto was whacked. Vito is part of the Aprile curse!

1st season- Jackie Aprile Sr
2nd season- Richie Aprile
3rd season- Gigi Cestone, and Jackie Aprile Jr
4th season- Ralphie Ciferetto
5th season- Adriana LaCerva, the Aprile crew would have meetings in her VIP room
6th season- Eugene Pontecorvo, and Vito Spatafore

Far be it for me to extoll the virtues of Wikipedia, but they have a decent breakdown of the characters that may be of interest. If nothing else, its fun reading. Here's a link to Vito's info (below) explaining that he was "made" in Season 2:

HBO's On Demand is now offering a 3 minute recap of many of the big "hits" from all the prior seasons. (They've included some that have died "naturally" like Livia and Bobby Bacala's dad).

Surprisingly they've included the Russian from the pine barrens, so, at least according to HBO, he's officially dead. (Not surprisingly Adrianna was included).

They're also running a 3 minute recap of all prior seasons (totalling 18 minutes) plus all shows from Season 6 (Part 1) until April 8th. They're charging $4.95/month (and you should be able to order it and cancel it anytime you want) so, if you view all their stuff for "The Sopranos" and want to cancel immediately after that you'll be billed only for those days that you've actually subscribed (i.e. if you keep it for one week only you should be billed only for that one week, or about $1.15).

Thats how it works here with Cablevision anyway, so you may wanna check with your own cable company.

when showing the russian in the pine barrins they put a question ? mark next to his name so im not convinced hes dead, very likely he'll be back
