A pomegranate club? Count me in!

I spit the seeds most of the time as well, saves for a spoon or two, just to make sure I'm not missing on something useful. You know, just as those dark grape seeds that have been proven to reduce bad cholesterol. My personal experiences tell me that chewing seeds can cure diarrhea.
When I was a kid I used to try a fun method for getting a pomegranate's juice. This method should be only tried outside the house while wearing clothes you don't care much for in case of a failure in the process.

Pick a soft skinned one that has no spot likely to ooze. Wrap an old towel around it and carefully and slowly roll while you press it down to a hard surface. When its inside feels all mushy, make a hole on the skin and suck the juice.
One of the things that bug me about this fruit is that if you don't wear gloves and touch the skin with bare hands, your hands could turn all black. Well... a small price to pay for having a delicious fruit.
Zia, thanks! California is a different story, because of its ethnic diversity but I never recall having seen pomegranates in ethnic produce stores in Alabama. People for the most part had no idea what it is called and even more amazed to see the price. I remember one time after having made myself ready to pay a hefty price on my groceries, which included five pomegranates, I had to double check the receipt to make sure if everything was all right, since I paid less than I expected. Turned out the check out boy had assumed that five of them was for $5, and when I got back and told him that he has made a mistake, he was like are you insane to buy these or what?!!
