Reading Donne, appreciating his dilemmas, proclaiming him to be the intellectual embodiment of the Renaissance, digging deep beneath his difficult syntax, I've sort of danced, with admittedly light feet, on the prospect of a God, and have, to my own shock more than anybody else's, entertained, with a light snack, Christianity.

Have you ever watched kids On a merry-go-round? Thanks, afsaneh77. Actually, at the risk of sounding like a big weenie, watching my kids ride a merry-go-round always melted my heart. I don't know exactly why. Because it just does. You feel serenity when you see them so happy and carefree. Of course I don't have a kid yet but my little niece is an angel.

Actually, at the risk of sounding like a big weenie, watching my kids ride a merry-go-round always melted my heart. I don't know exactly why. Now why would something so beautiful as enjoying watching something that your chidren are doing, and having a good time at, make you sound like a weenie? It tells me that you are a loving father. Nothing weenieish about that in my book! You don't really understand human nature unless you know why a child on a merry-go-round will wave at his parents every time around - and why his parents will always wave back. ~William D. Tammeus I remember when my kids were younger and I used to watch them on the amusement park kiddie rides laughing, waving and having a ball. It used to choke me up just watching them have so much fun. Don Cardi

So true DC, and I might add even when your kids become adults there are times they can warm your heart. There's always that special pride in your own. Once, when my girls were 3 & 5 we went to Michigan for Christmas. We were on the plane, and my husband looked out the window and said to the girls, "Wow, I think I just saw a glimpse of Santa's sleigh." Their eyes were wide open with excitement as the quickly looked out the window to try to see Santa. They believed wholeheartedly. The Santa phase is so very short. That feeling also, I might add carries on to the grandkids. The innocence of a child can be soooo cute. My grandaughter who is now four is in preschool. This school touches lightly on religion. On her second or third time there they told the parents that they were going to mention Adam & Eve. When my grandaughter came home from preschool, my daughter asked her, "How was preschool, did you have fun, how are the kids in your room", etc. Then she asked, "did you hear about Adam & Eve?" My grandaughter replies, "yea! They were in my class too." I don't think she quite grasped it. So cute though. You wonder what their little minds are thinking. TIS

This afternoon I was walking our dog. Because the weather was unseasonably mild, I extended the walk to an adjacent neighborhood where a four year old boy bounced from his front yard to greet my dog. He was excited because he and his mother had raked a large pile of leaves that he wanted to show me. His mom was getting a kick out of him from the front porch. The little guy brought me to the pile and asked me if I wanted to jump in it. I was still picking out pieces of dried leaves from under my shirt an hour later.

TIS The look of wonder in a little one's eyes stays with you forever. When my daughter was three, she was mystified one morning when she saw several small white feathers in her bed. Apparently there had been a small hole in her pillow. I told her that they were from baby angels, who came while she was sleeping to give her kisses. Her jaw-dropping expression is a memory I'll carry to my deathbed.

"I am enclosing two tickets to the first night of my new play, bring a friend.. if you have one." -- George Bernard Shaw to Winston Churchill
"Cannot possibly attend first night, will attend second... if there is one." -- Winston Churchill, in response
Thats "give and take" at its best! Winston Churchill was wonderful at it. One of his more famous "incidents" was: ("proper" lady at a party seeing that Churchill had too much to drink, exclaimed in a demeaning voice): You're drunk!!! (Churchill replied): Yes, madam, I AM drunk and you are ugly. Tomorrow I will be sober but you'll still be ugly. (I MAY have messed up the exact quote but thats the gist of it).

I believe he said , "You're ugly, and tomorrow I'll be sober." My favorite Churchill line is his response to Lady Astor (I believe) who said, "Sir Winston, you're wicked. If I were your wife, I'd put poison in your tea." "If you were my wife, I'd drink it."

ANONYMOUS users are those who aren't logged in, whether members or those visiting from search engines. INVISIBLE members, such as myself, could be those who have the BB open all day long, to check every now and then, but don't wanna appear to be "active" cuz they're not really there all the time.... OR.... they just wanna stay hidden.
I studied Italian for 2 semesters. Not once was a "C" pronounced as a "G", and never was a trailing "I" ignored! And I'm from Jersey! lol Whaddaya want me to do? Whack a guy? Off a guy? Whack off a guy? --Peter Griffin My DVDs | Facebook | Godfather Filming Locations
