that's why you can't simply "throw out" one start or another from a pitcher's game log to make him look better or worse.

as far as Zito, it's true, he still didn't pitch a genuine SHO against the Mariners (at least not this year) but his numbers against them are worth like he did it 2 or 3 times.
47.1 IP and 9 ER for an E.R.A. of 1.72 the last two years and .45 E.R.A. in 20 IP this season.

as far as Lowe, I also don't trust him at all.

...and since I have to kill some time before going to class, here are some reasons why Lowe should be a good pick today

1) first and most, the Dodgers are on a row, and they play really good on they're on a row. (as long as it is a winning row, because they do STINK when they're on a losing row)
2) Lowe has just had an outstanding outing agains the Marlins two weeks ago. 7 IP 5 H 1 ER 0 BB 5 K 1 W
3) I expect the Marlins to start looking more like the minor league team they should be

and the reason why I didn't take none of Zito, Zambrano and Oswalt

1) if I picked Zito and he got bombed, I wouldn't be able to live with myself anymore
2) the Cubs suck
3) the Astros suck

Fuck Zito. He's nothing more than a "good" pitcher. The Mets better not open their vault for this guy. Thank God they didn't give up their top prospects to get him for the strecth run. I have more faith in Maine than him. They can offer him a modest contract in the off-season, but it better not be huge $$$.

....yes he's pissing me off tonight.

Personally, I don't care how much money they offer Zito or spend on him as a free agent; after all, the Mets are not my father's business, and I'm not all that concerned with their profitability.

In terms of giving up prospects, it gets a little trickier.

The Mets are headed for the playoffs -- do they have even one reliable starter at this point?

All the talk about Lastings Milledge -- Have any of us really seen enough of the guy or are any of us really astute enough to judge whether or not he's a "can't miss" player?

I'm always reminded of Alex Ochoa and, more recently, Alex Escobar - two more guys who "couldn't miss" being stars.

The Mets have a chance to win it all this season.

Next year, Pedro, Glavine and Delgado will all be a year older, so who knows?

Zito isn't Roger Clemens or Johann Santana or Roy Halladay or Chris Carpenter or any of the "elite" starting pitchers in baseball, but he could be what the Mets need this year to win a World Series.

On that basis, if I were a Mets fan, I'd trade for a guy like him if I could, and if I had to give up a top prospect I would.

Just for the record, that was a typographical error.

I reversed the "a" and the "o".

I don't proof read my posts much anymore like I used to, either. Especially the longer ones

Any Firefox users here, and, are you having problems loading player/team profile pages such as http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/players/bvsp?playerId=4062 ?? It seems to work okay in IE, but for some reason it's not in Firefox for me now... but all other sites seems to work fine

He's pitching against the AAA Royals, who have only won 17 games on the road. KC won the last two, so odds are they aren't going to win this one. He's also faced them two other times this year and only given up 2 runs in each start.

Good thing for me Oakland didn't sweep and allow 5 runs or something in the two games.

But (stupidly) I figured that if the Oakland PS had a good day I wanted to benefit from it somehow, so I (stupidly) wasted a start on Blanton, which was not in my original Yahoo plan.

Had I taken the Oak PS in this game as I had originally intended to, I never would have taken Blanton in the Yahoo game.

These games suck -- I may not play next year.

-- Never had to figure out a three-letter abbreviation for Kansas City before

-- SC's -57 is possibly a Gangster BB record. I remember a doubleheader at Coors a few years ago when DB couldn't change his team or something and wound up with a DH PS that went for a big minus - maybe he'll remember how much.

To get a -57 in a single game you need something like 8 IPs (+24) with 4 Ks (+5), while allowing 19 ERs (-57), 22 Hits (-22), and 7 BBs (-7).

Pretty tough to do that when we are - theoretically, anyway - picking from only the top SPs in baseball.

Thanks, Gina! I don't think I'll be back into Commish Mode until tomorrow! I'll be lucky enough if I get my roster set tonight...!

I studied Italian for 2 semesters. Not once was a "C" pronounced as a "G", and never was a trailing "I" ignored! And I'm from Jersey! tongue lol

Glad you all made it back okay - I'm sure I'm right to assume you had a great time?
