Pick a team now and post it. Even if others don't want it to count it will count between you and me.

Nah, that's OK.

The cap values changed already, and besides, who knows? You might miss a day later on, and then what?

It's all part of the game. I think my problem is that these daily games - baseball too - are becoming too much of a grind, and I don't look forward to picking a team every day like I used to.

So I procrastinate, think I'll do it later, fall asleep, wake up at 3:10, get all pissed off.....

Next year: Yahoo baseball.

Don't worry, though, DM....I won't ever say that if you win this year it's tainted.

Besides, what'd I beat you by last year? Still a loooooooooooooong way to go.

Listen to you guys after Week 1 talking about who's gonna win!

Plaw, baseball is my favorite game, and even that was a grind for me the last couple months and I couldn't wait 'til it was over. That's why I almost didn't play this one. But I haven't minded this so far because I spend a lot less time on it. It's also still fun because I still have a chance.

But c'mon, guys, it's been 1 week. This goes on for months! And even with 2 DNP's in a row ( ), Plaw still has a legit shot at it. Even if he doesn't win, it won't be tainted: -300 pts seems like a legit handicap for Plaw. Besides, neither DMC nor SP are not gonna win this anyway. :p

When the cap values go up and you can't pick everyone you want, that's when the cream really starts to rise.

Anyone can pick a team of Nash, Kobe, Marion, Nowitzski, and Ming.

It's when you can only take three of them, and you have to decide which three to take and who to take for the other two spots that he game really starts to become fun and the skill level increases.

Why do you think the scores have been so close so far (and relatively high)? We've all been picking the same players (at least when we remember to play ).

It's a loooooooooooooooooong season, guys and gals. I ain't giving up.

Oh yeah? Cream this!!

There are like 4 of us who have the same score for Monday. I think we had identical rosters. I have a feeling that's gonna happen less and less as the weeks progress though. So, anyone getting nervous yet?

If you pick a coach whose team isn't playing, the rest of your picks still count, right?

By the way, have any of you ever picked Rasheed Wallace this season? I wonder how he does in fantasy. From the looks of the stats on the roster-pick page, not so good... but you never know, those aren't infallible. I kinda like him, I like his style-- but I don't know if it'd pay off to pick him. I don't like him enough to sacrifice points. Besides, if I'm gonna pick a Piston, he better damn well make it worth my betrayal!

Short answer: Right.

Long answer, cuz I have time on my hands: In the baseball game, since the teams play almost every day, some people choose to keep a player on their team even on an off day so he can be retained at a low cap value going forward.

In basketball, that absolutlely cannot pay, since the teams play only 2-4 times a week, so any advantage you'd have by keeping a player that you acquired for a low cap value is nore than negated by the points you lose when he doesn't play.

But the theory is the same, and the games both work the same way.

Actually, once you pick your very first team on the very first day that you play, you can never be disqualified for a day for not having a full team, since all your positions will be filled.

Also, some people play this game on a weekly basis, and don't change their team all week.

What happened to that one site that showed the stats for each player/team throughout the night? They had it halfway through the season last year...

Okay, I know the Lakers won, and yet my 5 points is nowhere to be found. Do they add that like the next day or something?

By the way, nice picks Gigi! We had exactly the same roster... great minds think alike! I couldn't have picked a better MWA. :p

For some odd reason, during the period between 3:00 AM and about 5:30 AM (all times Eastern) when the scores are deemed official, they never even show you who your coach was, much less tell you if you got the five points or not.

Tuesday Scores

Code:
DM 885 106 991 Going for tainted victory
SP 885 106 991 Maintains position
JG 874 101 875 A 5 point drop is a lot at this stage of the game
JL 863 96 959 A 10 point drop is worse
LZ 789 106 895 106 a popular score today
GG 776 106 882 GG and LZ: Great minds?
PL 591 104 695 Can't even afford 2 point loss to leaders
TM 490 58 548 One day "played" streak starts today
PP 392 106 498 Another 106
I wish the cap values would radically increase already so i have a chance of coming back.

Low cap values = everyone with virtually the same team.

I'm proud to be your MWA, but I'm afraid it's as Plaw says - the only reason I'm even somewhat of a contender right now is the cap value. I'm sure it'll require more skill, eventually, and I'm not sure I'll last. But it's still fun!

Ahhhh... Don't mind Plaw. He's focusing on Yahoo Basketball anyway.

How are ya, Gina and Zia? Since the baseball season ended, we've rarely crossed paths.

BTW, I'm rootin' for you two to mess up the boys' plans.

I've been great, CS - keeping busy with school, but still making time for sports and the BB. How are you?

Zia's my pick for putting the boys to shame. I know she knows her basketball.

Why the heck aren't you in this game? If not for Plaw, then surely you'd do it for your slices of bread?

Not working too hard, I hope? Remember, "all work and no play..." - keep some fun in the mix.

I can understand about the salary cap games. Just thought I'd pull the ol' guilt trip on you and see where I could get. :p
