Poor Charlie! At least we got to hear Zoey's name last night!!

I was thinking of you, Beth, when they showed Molly and Huck with their Orioles uniforms on!

Poor kids. They'll be traumatized for life.

Zoey's name was mentioned? That must have slipped right past me.

When they sent Mrs. Santos to Miami to speak, they said something about Zoey Bartlett doing an appearance.

I just re-watched last night's episode on Bravo and noticed that. I don't know why when I first saw it I'm picturing Mrs. Bartelett, not Zoey. Now that it looks like Stockard Channing's tv show is still running we won't see her much anymore.

I'm wondering if Toby's insider could be Andy...hmmmmmmm...quite a plot twist.

Wow, Pee Wee's Big Adventure is on TV, and no matter how weird it is to think of what Paul Reubens is like now, I can't help but love this movie. I don't know how many times I watched it as a kid with my family, and seeing it now after so long is such fun. It's really a very goofy movie, but it's just one of those memorable things that'll always stick with me.

I re-discovered this quote, today:

"If a woman has to choose between catching a fly ball and saving an infant's life, she will choose to save the infant's life without even considering if there are men on base" -Dave Barry ( )

To get us ready for the season, here are a few more I like...

"It's no coincidence that female interest in the sport of baseball has increased greatly since the ballplayers swapped those wonderful old-time baggy flannel uniforms for leotards." -Mike Royko ( )

"Baseball, to me, is still the national pastime because it is a summer game. I feel that almost all Americans are summer people, that summer is what they think of when they think of their childhood. I think it stirs up an incredible emotion within people." -Steve Busby, in Washington Post, 8 July 1974

"Baseball is not necessarily an obsessive-compulsive disorder, like washing your hands 100 times a day, but it's beginning to seem that way. We're reaching the point where you can be a truly dedicated, state-of-the-art fan or you can have a life. Take your pick." -Thomas Boswell, Washington Post, 13 April 1990

"With those who don't give a damn about baseball, I can only sympathize. I do not resent them. I am even willing to concede that many of them are physically clean, good to their mothers and in favor of world peace. But while the game is on, I can't think of anything to say to them." -Art Hill

Gina, those are great!! Thank you for sharing them. I did watch a bit of the Yankees/Phillies game tonight. Yankees were losing, so I switched over to Die Hard. Goodness, Bruce Willis was hot in this movie!!!

SPOILER ALERT

Just watched Die Hard, which I've seen only a billion times. At the end, there are papers blowing all around them, and it reminded me of September 11th.

They're filming a scene for the HBO show The Wire on the 8th floor of the hospital I work at. I don't watch the show, I don't even have HBO. But it's still strange just the same to know something's being filmed in the same building I'm sittin at right now.

That is pretty cool. My sister-in-law used to work in Yonkers and one day she just happened upon Nicholas Cage and Bridget Fonda outside the courthouse filming that movie about the cop and the waitress and the lottery ticket. Me, I never see anyone famous, or have anything like that happen. Beth, can you hover in the background or something?

I thought it strange that I would walk down the hall to where our time clock is and see signs pointing to "set". Sometimes those shows on the medical channel where they show real life doctors will film here.

But sadly now there's more news crews out as this afternoon an undercover vice cop was shot 2 times in the chest and taken to my hospital. So the cops and mayor and people are holding a press conference here. The back door to where my office is is right where the emergency and Shock Trauma entrances are, so that's where they set up. A very surreal day.

Gi, I saw our boy Manu in person last night at Staples (don't ask about the game itself... UGH) and he looked kind of small. I came to the conclusion that he must have put on some weight or something, and he just doesn't look as lanky anymore. Maybe? I don't know. But I know one thing... it's hard to concentrate on him when my Sasha's on the same court!

You saw him in person?! Atta girl!

You're a true-blue fan for ignoring the rival, Zia...especially when it's Manu!

Bethie, did you get to see the Cubs/Padres game? It's just the 5th, right now, on WGN - perhaps you'll catch Vinny?

Are you kidding? No matter how much I might like a certain player, if he's playing against my Lakers, he immediately becomes my nemesis for that night.

Dude, I can see you as some kind of Jekyll and Hyde Zia at the game...

- "Ooh, look at that hottie, Manu!"
- "Waitaminute! He just pushed Sasha. Nobody pushes Sasha."
- "When he pushed him, his beautiful hair bounced a bit, while those few sexy strands remained pasted to his sweaty face."
- "He's not a freakin' Laker, Zia! Snap out of it!"

OMG you're so right!!!! Were you there, or something?

I was with 2 cousins and my bf, and Manu made this really amazing shot. As much as I hated to admit it, I turned to them with this overly dramatic sad, disappointed look on my face and said, "that was a damn good shot." Like a second later, he fouled Sasha, and I sat up straight and was like, "Ah HELL no!!"

Psycho? Nahhh. Maybe.

Btw, Manu's hair is short now, again. So yeah, between that, and fouling my Sasha, he didn't stand a chance. (Chance at what? I don't know.)

Sorry, I'm an old lady, I don't stay up this late. But sorry I missed a chance to see The Padres, as it will probably be my one and only chance to see it on tv. Of course, who were The Orioles playing yesterday....Washington. Sons of bitches.

Zia, I can just imagine you doing that...

He cut his hair?! Well, he just lost fantasy points for that. And you ladies all know how important those points are to the famous athletes we swoon over.

Bethie, I'm sorry. The baseball gods must be against you.

I hate it when they get a haircut, except Johnny Damon, who had to cut his hair and shave to be a Yankee.

Watched a little bit of the Yankees game yesterday. I can't believe that the opening day game is at 10 at night here because they're playing Oakland. There's no way an old lady like me is going to catch the game, at least past the first inning or two.

Oh, poor SB! That's terrible that it has to be so late. And it's on Monday, isn't it? A "school night" for me, and you too, as a mommy.

Are y'all planning on catching the Cleveland/Chicago game tonight? Only seven more hours until baseball begins.

They're predicting rain on both East and West Coasts, which may delay both the Yankees and the Mets games today. Waited all this time, and rain?? So unfair!!

Beth, did you watch West Wing last night?? I don't want to spoil it for you if you haven't, but they are supposed to rebroadcast on Bravo at 7:00 tonight.

Of course I watched the Josh/Donna love fest last night..hahahaha. Twice?? Now that's nice. But we could have at least seen a kiss or two, if not some clothes ripping off. Oh well. Can't have foreplay all the time I guess.

It was nice seeing Charlie, even if he was only in 2 scenes. I guess he was busy going over all of C.J.'s job applications.

It WAS great to see Charlie. I actually squealed his name when he came on camera.

As for the Josh and Donna scenes, I expected more caring and more passion. I mean, you could've driven a truck between them when they were in bed. Not exactly how I would picture the culmination of 6 years of sexual tension, you know what I mean??

And the last minute of the show - heartbreaking. Although I knew that they were going to have to kill off Leo, I was still so sad. I do expect some terrific acting on the part of Martin Sheen and Bradley Whitford in dealing with Leo's death, though.

I am sooooo let down by the love scenes. I think Danny and C.J. ooze more passion then they did. But when Josh asked Donna if she wanted a drink and she said no and walked out, I was ready to punch the tv if Josh didn't follow her. The scenes afterward were not up to par. Maybe there's still a chace for them to "christian" The White House later.

I can't wait for Josh and Bartlett's reactions next week. It seemed so sad these last 2 episiodes knowing John Spencer already died, and the actor's having just go on. I wish someone else besides Annabeth would have found him. I still find her annoying.

Here we go...the beginning of the Astros season!!!

They had a great opening ceremony - the unfurling of the NL Champion pennant and flag was one of the attractions.

Beth, I LOVE Annabeth! I think she's hilarious. Here's hoping that the scenes between Josh and Donna get a bit better. For example, could we actually see them TOUCH one another??

Gina, I am so jealous that you could watch the Astros. I have an hour and 15 minutes to the Yankees game, and my eyelids are sooooo tired already. I have a feeling that I'm never going to make it.

Well, there was a lovely presentation of our division championships over the years, along with player representatives. The anthem was sung by a corny American Idol youngster - no idea who, but he had a jersey covered in autographs...lucky jerk.

Hmm. Can't think of what else was so exciting.

SB, you have to stay awake! This is what you've been waiting for since October! YOU CAN DO IT!
