How cute! I love stuff like that. This is the first I've heard of this, though. I bet he was excited all throughout, huh? That must have been so cool.

I'm jealous, SB.

I'll be honest, I never like to admit that I like guys or find guys attractive that a lot of other girls/women do, so of course, as I realized how many gals liked Jeter and A-Rod, I never wanted to like them. I was even that way with Orlando Bloom (I think I mentioned that elsewhere on the BB), where when I saw how many girls joined his "fan club," I got jealous and didn't want to like him anymore. But I still do. It sounds dumb, but I guess I like feeling like I've "discovered" "my" guys. Anywho, I suppose I've somewhat given in on the Yankee thing, because I must admit, they've got some handsome guys. I like Posada, too.

If any of you ladies vote online for The All Star game do this old broad a favor and put a check mark next to my man. Vinny's in the running, and it looks like he has a good shot. I know I voted about 10 times. I think you can vote up to 25 times, so I gotta get a hopping. Give me any names you want me to place a vote for and I'll return the favor.

We all have to give high fives to SB's main man A Rod on hitting his 400th homer last night, setting a record for the youngest player to reach 400 homers. Way to go!!

A-Rod hits 400th homer against Brewers
Rodriguez becomes 40th, youngest player to reach milestone
By Mark Feinsand / MLB.com

Alex Rodriguez poses with his 400th home run ball.

MILWAUKEE -- When Alex Rodriguez hit his 398th home run on May 26, his fifth in eight games, it seemed like it would only be a matter of days -- if not hours -- that he became the 40th player in history to reach the 400-homer plateau.
But 11 games later, Rodriguez was still stuck on 398, having gone that long without hitting one out or even driving in a single run.

He made up for lost time on Wednesday night in Milwaukee, going 4-for-4 with two home runs -- Nos. 399 and 400 -- and four RBIs in the Yankees' 12-3 win over the Brewers.

"It's obviously a very special day, especially to do it in a win we needed so desperately," Rodriguez said. "To do it with a Yankees uniform on, it's something I'll never forget."

"He's been doing all of these things from the day he came into the league," said Mike Mussina, who was the recipient of the run support on Wednesday. "Four hundred home runs for him is just a chapter in a pretty long book. I'm sure it's not his last one, and I'm sure it's not his last one with two zeroes after it."

At 29 years old, Rodriguez reached 400 earlier than any player in history. Ken Griffey Jr., A-Rod's former teammate in Seattle, had held the previous record for the most homers hit before his 30th birthday with 398, but Rodriguez, who turns 30 on July 27, knocked his old friend out of the record books.

"To be 29 years old and have 400 home runs, that's pretty incredible," said manager Joe Torre. "With the shape he's in and the way he works, who knows where he's going?"

"These guys get sick of hearing me talk about A-Rod," said Brewers hitting coach Butch Wynegar, who was a roving hitting instructor and Minor League manager in the Rangers' organization from 1995-2002 and worked with Rodriguez from 2001-02. "His bank account says, 'Hey, I don't have to work another day in my life.' But he goes in that cage every day. I used to see him go in there four times before a game, and that's when he was playing everyday shortstop. He deserves this."

A-Rod, whose 11-game skid without an RBI was the second-longest of his career, drilled No. 399 in the first inning, taking left-hander Chris Capuano deep for a two-run shot to left field on a 3-1 pitch. The homer was estimated at 410 feet.

"I hadn't hit one in a while," he said. "I hit it pretty good."

That homer tied A-Rod with Al Kaline and Andres Galarraga for 40th place on the all-time list.

In the eighth, Rodriguez added a solo shot against southpaw Jorge De La Rosa, crushing a 2-2 pitch 381 feet over the right-field wall. His 19 homers this season lead the Majors.

"Alex had a super night, and to cap it off with the 400th home run was great," Torre said. "That's as loose as he's been, even more than the three-home run game [April 26 against the Angels]. He seemed light on his feet today."

"He doesn't limit himself to one field," Brewers manager Ned Yost said. "He hits one out to left [field] and then hits No. 400 out to right."

Rodriguez became the sixth player to hit his 400th homer for the Yankees, joining Babe Ruth, Lou Gehrig, Mickey Mantle, Reggie Jackson and Gary Sheffield. According to the Elias Sports Bureau, he also became the third player to reach the milestone in Milwaukee, joining Eddie Matthews and Billy Williams.

"I'm a young man out of Miami," Rodriguez said. "I never thought I'd be doing some of the things that I've done."

I was watching the game and it was great when he hit that home run. What's the website address to vote? I'll be happy to vote for Vinny, if you throw a few votes to Jeter and ARod!!

You just got to mlb.com, under "fan forum" there's a drop down box. Just pick "all star ballot". You can vote up to 25 times.

I voted, but you know that, if he gets on, he will play against ARod, as they're both up for 3rd baseman!!

I already did about 10 votes a while back for the ASG, but I'm sure I'll do more. In case any of you are really serious about voting, you can create a new "account" thing after you've used your 25 (I think you only have to change one thing, like perhaps your e-mail), and you get another 25 each time you do this.

SB, I'm sure Jeter and A-Rod will make it ( ), but if I vote again, I'll try to remember to include them. They're AL, and I don't usually have any other choices in that league anyway, so it's good.

Bethie, I believe Vinny's in NL with my Astros, right? I'll probably go ahead and vote for him at 3B instead of Morgan Ensberg...Mo's actually pretty good (not someone I'd vote for just because he's a 'Stro), but I'm not sure he even has a chance to make it. At least Vinny's on a winning team, you know? Well, I'll try to get some votes in for him, as well, if I do vote again!

If y'all can get some votes in for any Astro, that'll be great!

-----

Oh, I'm loving this. My Jason Lane just got a triple because Mets OF Carlos Beltran (who BETRAYED us...) bobbled the ball, and Brad Ausmus just hit him in to tie the game up for us. I wasn't paying much attention (I forgot the game started at 6 instead of 7... ), but I saw the replay of Beltran. He tries to make a clean sweep of the ball, and it hits off his glove into LF...whoops! And, Biggio got another run in, just now...I think that was an error, though. Anywho, I guess I'm just having sour grapes over Beltran, but that made me very happy.

Yeah, A Rod is American league and Vinny is National leaque, so they would be on opposing teams. I voted 4 more times last night, including for A Rod and Derek. Hopefully we'll all get our honey's in. The power of chicksville!!!!!

Gina..aren't you a sweetie! I actually remember voting for a few Astros on my list. I think Vinny and Brad Wilkerson are the only Nats I voted for, other then that I don't know too many National leaque teams, so I voted so all of us "chicks" will have a guy in the AL game.

Nats are on a rock-n-roll. Bring out the brooms...they swept Oakland.

And Vinny got another RBI...thanks you very much!

Argh, I missed the game.

The Astros went into extra innings from a 6:00 game, and when that ended, my stomach was killing me. It ended up lasting all the way through the night, so I finally just went to bed with a heat pad instead of watching Manu. I woke up around midnight and watched some sports shows...I caught some highlights and found out the Spurs won.

Anyway, I felt bad that I missed "my man"...

My mouth (and teeth "areas") has been hurting since my wisdom tooth surgery, so I actually wished last night that it would start hurting again, instead of my stomach. Well, I got my wish.

How many of you gals are close enough to a stadium to catch some games?

I'm lucky to live in Houston, close to Minute Maid, so I've been able to make it to several. I went to my second game of this season last night, and it was incredible. I just love the atmosphere in the ballpark. It's hard to explain, but when you experience it, it's just amazing. Roger Clemens (Rocket Man...they kept playing that song for him...

I actually work 4 blocks from Camden Yards. 5 years ago I worked in a department that is actually located at The Warehouse at Camden Yards. I walk around Camden Yards everyday during my lunch time.

To put it midly, I'm sick of looking at that place..haha. The last thing I want to do on my "down time" is go someplace that reminds me of work.

Now, if Vinny was an Oriole I'd have season tickets.

I had no problem driving over an hour last month to DC to watch The Nationals.

I actually considered a job at Minute Maid, but I can see how that could get old.

Oh, here's a pic of the Wizard, who pitched a 2-hit shutout today!

I live pretty far from Yankee Stadium, but it's virtually impossible to get tickets anyway. Actually, my favorite stadium is Skydome in Toronto. We've gone to Toronto a few times and caught a couple of games. Last year we saw the Yankees play.

I'm not too far from Dodger Stadium, and I agree with you, they're a lot of fun to go to! Last season, we had season tickets in the seats right behind Shawn Green's parents. He's cute sometimes, by the way. Have you guys noticed, sometimes he looks really bad and sometimes he looks really hot? I wonder how that works. :p Oh well, he doesn't even play for L.A. anymore.

That's really cool you had season tickets! How I'd love to have some for my 'Stros...ohhh...

I actually "gaped" at that picture...

Gorgeous!!!

I like that look. I don't know quite how to describe it, but it's sort of "scruffy," I guess. Reminds me of Jeff Kent. Oh, how I miss him. He's on your Dodgers, now!

Edit: God, I love his hair. Dark, flowing...yummy!

Pretty nice, huh? Usually he looks like a nerd in pictures though. It's rare to find such a hot one. But in real life, he looks more like this picture than the nerd ones.

And yeah, Kent's a usual on my Fantasy lineup.

Not that fantasy lineup!! I mean the baseball one!

Have you seen him in real life? Autograph? Hug...? And then they'd arrest me.

Zia, you crack me up!

Looks like Shawn Green's going to be an addition to my "fantasy" lineup, too...

...I mean, he's got some good stats, you know?

By the way, our boy Manu's doing awesome, isn't he?!
He's Nike's "Baller of the Year." That sounds so lame, but good for him.

Lots of Pretty Pictures!!!

And, since I'm on a roll, I'll post my latest find: J.J. Hardy of the Brewers. He caught my eye in my ESPN magazine, and I found this pic:

Well, it was a quick tidbit; they were running through all the MLB news, and they showed him when they were talking about the Nats.

Yes, the game was painful, but more so as a fan than as a fantasy player.
