I guess the cat is out of the bag regarding the "pick your Tuesday team between 3:00-5:00 AM Monday morning and beat the 5:00-5:30 AM Monday morning rise in cap values".

I figured it out by watching the Leaderboard.

One Tuesday, one of the leaders had exactly the team I wanted, but that I couldn't fit under the cap.

I noticed that he had players for less than their current value, and I thought at first that he had them "locked in" at the lower value from the previous day.

Until I realized that a few of them hadn't even played the previous day.

It took me -- no exaggeration -- all week trying to figure it out, and I couldn't.

But, like two weeks later, I happened to be up at around 3:30 on a Monday morning, and, with nothing to do, decided to pick my Tuesday team.

I always knew you could pick your team for the following day as soon as the rosters locked at 3:00 AM, but I still didn't put 2 and 2 together.

But when I went to do Wednesday's team, I saw that I had all of my Tuesday players locked in for less than their current values, and I realized how the guys on the leaderboard did it.

I was hoping for a different reaction. I knew about it- just didn't feel like staying up to do it.

JG you might want to take up that method though, it may help you.
Another method that might help is the "STOP SUCKING METHOD" the "sucking method" you are using now is pretty outdated :p

Hey!!! Who's winni----- nevermind.

SIDEBAR (and completely off topic) TO DOUCHEMAN:
On the Amazing Race finale last week, the final leg was in Chicago. One of the feats was to find Ping Tom Memorial Park. Hmmm, noone could figure out that was in Chinatown??!! They also had to eat a deep dish pizza at Geno's. Why was everyone gagging? Didn't look that huge Is it bad? Or they were just not used to eating deep dish at 7 am?

And I know THIS news will make your day - Rob and Ambuh have signed on to compete in the new season of Amazing Race beginning this Thursday.

Oh man, that is gonna be wicked haaardddd.....

Carry on, boys.

Just thought I'd mention this.......

The only reason I posted a whole explanation about how I discovered the Monday-Tuesday thing is because I assumed (perhaps incorrectly) that since as far as I know I was the first one to use it, that one or more of you guys noticed and tried to figure out how I did it.

So I thought (perhaps incorrectly) that you might be interested in knowing how I figured it out.

Also, BTW, as much as I am dying to finish a season, or at least a week, on the Leaderboard, and hate to give away even the slight edge that this provides, knowing that not all of us are willing or able to be awake at 3 AM, I suggest a rule for our league (baseball, too) that everyone must wait until the cap values go up before picking their Tuesday team.

I'd rather compete against you guys on a level playing field than beat a bunch of people I don't know.

I'd agree to that rule. It looks like JG is ready to move within 175 of me

Seriously, I think it's only fair that everyone wait for the values to be updated.

I just have 2 questions:
1) what if someone doesn't
2) what if for some reason the only time a person can pick his team is at a time the values haven't updated

Peaking my head out of my stacks of work in my office...

I only did the whole 3 AM team change thing this week just to see if it actually works.

I will NOT be using this strategy next half or in baseball. Losing sleep over a game is just not worth it.

As for DMC's questions...

Quote:
Seriously, I think it's only fair that everyone wait for the values to be updated.

I just have 2 questions:
1) what if someone doesn't
I personally don't mind if anyone uses this strategy. I would prefer that everyone wait for the values to be updated (i.e. Plaw's level-field reasoning), but who am I to tell someone to not use an available strategy.

Quote:
2) what if for some reason the only time a person can pick his team is at a time the values haven't updated
Same answer to #1. If he chooses to use the strategy or can only use this strategy as DMC suggests, then all the power to him. I don't think any of us is in that position however.

On a separate note...

What's up Buffster!

You can be sure that I'll be watching the Amazing Race. Gotta watch Ambuh!!!

I don't know. I love deep dish pizza. It's a bit heavy though. I can't eat more than 2 or 3 slices without being stuffed.

Careful with the pics -- Pat may get a " " woody!

As far as the "strategy" goes - I say all or nothing... fair game, or no game... cuz who knows when a dozen points may determine one place over another.

But yeah - policing it would be a burden....

But then again - who's to say one of us (not me, but theoretically ) won't be in strong contention for the Leaderboard where THEY use that strategy??

I say "so be it" - no one has to lose that much sleep if they can set their alarm and do their roster in the "5 minutes" ( :p ) they claim to take. :p

But then again - whatever the group decides...

I studied Italian for 2 semesters. Not once was a "C" pronounced as a "G", and never was a trailing "I" ignored! And I'm from Jersey! tongue lol

I hoped that we would come here and reason together. And as a reasonable man I'm willing
to do whatever's necessary to -- find a peaceful solution to these problems...

I'm sure a gentlemen's agreement among us will suffice. If someone chooses to violate the agreement, so be it.

I'm sure it will be noticed, and that person will be taken to task and exposed as the lying, treacherous, and dishonorable individual that they are.

As far as the Leaderboard problem goes, I'm willing to forgo my chances in the interest of the peace we've made here today.
