A wild pitch is a pitch. Earned run. A wild throw is an error. Unearned run. That's the logic. But I agree. If the pitcher makes the error, the run should be earned.

As my idol Bill James once said, "A lot of what we perceive as pitching is really defense".

Have you ever read anything by him, BTW. A numbers guy like you would love him.
