Yes, all you macho dudes, a topic about a figure skater. I must admit I am awed by the beauty, grace, stamina, skill and strength of figure skating. And Michelle Kwan could be one of greatest atheletes of the last ten years. Going back to 1992 she has won 60 gold medals and when not winning gold, she wins the silver. Since 1996 - 7 US Figure Skating Championships and 5 World Figure Skating Championships. Relative to her sport, to last that long, at that level is unparalleled. Of course someone will say that she never won the Olympics. So someone gets hot every four years, that doesn't diminish her year to year accomplishments. Where is Sara Hughes now? Who?

Well said, MaryCas! Same can be said for Canadian Kurt Browning who despite a fabulous career and numerous championships never managed to earn Olympic Gold. Sad because the Olympics are of course the most publicized event, the one viewed by more internationally than all the others combined....but as everyone knows it does nothing to diminish the talent and accomplishments of these two superb athletes! Michele Kwan...WE LOVE YOU!!!!! AppleOnYa

If Michelle had an Olympic gold, she would go down in history as the greatest American woman figure skater of all time. But because she has not captured her sport's ultimate prize, she is mentioned along with a group of other skaters (Peggy Fleming, Dorothy Hamill, Kristi Yamaguchi) who did not had the overall career that Michelle has, but did capture the gold. The Olympic gold to a figure skater is like an Academy Award for an actor. You can be great, but to go down in history as THE greatest actor, you have to have a gold statue. Is it her intention to try one last time in 2006? If so, I am rooting for her. I mean, err...I don't know squat about figure skating! I'm no sissy!
