I wasn't around to see the second game of the ALCS, but I was able to view the highlights on Sports Center. Even though I really, really want the Red Sox to win, I got to hand it to Andy Pettitte and the Yanks. They came ready to play and stranded several Boston runners, playing a great game all the way through. This series is FAR from over, and it will probably come down to the wire.

Capo made the game sound more one-sided than it was.

And Eddie... well, Eddie... he's our "special" member... :p

Well, the Red Sox definitely had their share of hits that night, but didn't seem to get many runs in the process. The game was always close, and the Yankees were never at the point of walking away with the game. It just seemed to me that Pettitte was almost impossible to hit after the second inning.Since I wasn't there to see the game, I only saw one-sided highlight reels. This year's Red Sox offense had a higher slugging percentage than the 1927 Yankees, who are arguably the best overall team to play the game. I know that Boston still played very well, and will continue to do so without a doubt.

The Red Sox achilles - the bullpen - was evident last night. Lowe was pitching his usual good game. Once Sour-back came in, the Yanks got the cushion they needed. He gave Giambi and Posada meatballs to hit, with a walk to Bernie sandwiched in. That gave Torre breathing room to put Contreras in and save Mariano for the ninth. Yes, Nice Guy (?) Eddie, those despised Yankees have the team to do it. Can the Red Sox bats overcome the Yankee pitching and keep Rivera out of the game?

PEDRO MARTINEZ KNOCKED ZIMMER TO THE GROUND?!?!!

WTF? Pedro hits a Yankee, and both sides were warned. Clemens throws up and in (which he should do), and the benches clear. 72-year old Zimmer goes after Pedro, and Pedro whips him to the ground. He should be freakin' out of the game and suspended for that shit!!!!

What a CRAZY game!! Another incident, in the Yankees bullpen. Some Fenway groundskeeper causing some melee. WTF is that all about?

But the most important thing...

The-uh-uh YANKEES WIN!

Come on Geoff your love of the Yankees is showing a little to much!
It wasn't a knock down or a throw down. Christ, the guy blocked the old crow and the fossal fell to the ground. The old bat should stay on the bench and stop charging the mound!

Even Joe said the tensions were high tonight. Another great game which was what we wanted.
The bullpen fight is another crazy thing and we will have to wait to see what really happened.

At least this time they didn't throw things at the players.

Boston- Yankees alway a great matchup.

Sure, Zim charged Pedro to bitch-slap him, but Pedro grabbed his head and pushed him to the ground!

Zimmer only got that angry because Pedro was going after the batter's head. Back in the 50s or 60s Zimmer got hit in the head and went unconscious for 3 weeks and almost lost his life. He knows first-hand what a fastball in the head can do and he was only standing up for his players. Plus old Don isnt that fast and Pedro could of easily just gotten out of the way. That was a fucked up thing to do.

Zim was just taken away on a stretcher to the hospital for precautionary measures. They waited this long??

And Pedro's claiming he didn't realize it was Zimmer? Pedro couldn't tell a 72 year old man?? Horseshit...!

Can't wait to hear what happened in the bullpen... apparently a grounds crew guy was in the Yankees bullpen taunting them the whole game?? He should be fired...

Pedro can see the fucking batters mound and hit Garcia but he can't see a 72-year old dude who has had knee operations and moves about as fast as cold molasses? Gimme a break, Pedro you asshole :p

The only thing I heard about the bullpen incident is that the dude who went after Nelson wasn't a fan but a Fenway Park groundskeeper or something...

As I'm watching the Cubbies kick ass, the Fox update from Boston says the groundskeeper says he was "attacked by Nelson and Garcia after raising his arms in a gesture to support his Red Sox. He has "cleat" marks on his back, and they claim they are going to launch an MLB investigation and possibly sue the Yankees.

Haha. Jeff Nelson kicked your ass...

What a bunch of crap. I mean, it has no place in baseball for this kind of stuff, and that guy was doing much more than just "raising his hands" but oh well, I guess that's how it goes sometimes. But I still say Zimmer is my new hero.

Wait a minute here. What is Don Zimmer thinking by charging the pitcher in the first place? He should be lucky that Pedro didn't beat his ass. If somebody throws a punch at another player, that person is naturally going to retaliate. Pedro simply blocked the punch and pushed Zimmer out of the way, and the constant replays prove it. I would expect the hit batter to charge after Pedro, but Zimmer?? Did he actually think he was going to win that battle, or accomplish something for that matter? He was just looking for trouble, in fact BOTH TEAMS were throughout that game.

I didn't like the conduct of either team, and they as professionals should know better. Hopefully this kind of behavior will end with this out-of-control game.

Zimmer is old school. Like they said on Baseball2Night last night on ESPN after the game, in the old school, you went after the guy who started the shit. Pedro hit Garcia, and Clemens pitch wasn't even close, but they figured they could pull some crap.

Zimmer did what I think every Yankee fan wanted to do, and I applaud him

Christ give us a break- I can only imagine what these Die Hard Yankee fans would say if they had lost last nights game!

Old school, New school, Bull shit. The old fart shouldn't have left his sit period! That is what they have officials for. He is lucky Pedro didn't pop him one to his jaw! Then again I don't think he would want to hurt his hand, after all he is making many million throwing baseballs, not punches!
Christ man 22 0r 72, I would not let anyone come after me and my living!

and don't give me that whiners shit about throwing at batters, all team have done it and even though I don't agree with the practice it sure has its impact on the opposing team. Just look at Bostons batters last night, they were just waiting for a pitch to come their way and I think that is what kept them from doing better, so what goes around comes around. It hurt them just as much!

Boston- New York, always a good match-up!

Sure and everyone was so sure that the guy in the bullpen was wrong. Maybe the guy wasn't that smart to be doing what he was and where he was doing it. Players shouldn't put their hands on anyone either! He is just like the fans here on this board Fan= Fanatic.

Webster's- Fanatic: unreasonably enthusiastic, overly zealous.

Bring on the next game!- Play ball and let us hope the best team wins!

So what does it mean to hit an inside pitch? Too close to the batter's head? What about an "over head" pitch? I'm assumming it's the same thing, but I'm not sure. This playoff game between the Yankees and Red Sox is turning into a JLo & Ben story. Complete with drama, crazy behavior, attention-lovin Bostonians and New Yorkers.
Go Yankees.
