Here's what I posted to the fantasy baseball thread. Guess it belonged in a new thread for everyone else YANKS / BOSOX Excellent. Should be fun regardless of who wins. Of course, I prefer NY -- and to keep the Bambino Curse intact! Bad enough they got into the post-season, but they shouldn't win it! :p CUBS / MARLINS Okay, the other never-win team. This one I can root for! Go Cubbies! (Shit, I mean, Go Marlins! the way I curse my picks! ) NEXT ROUND 1) BOSOX / CUBS - Would be an incredible series. Two teams who've done nothing for 100 years. 2) YANKS / CUBS - Was a tough series during the regular season, but c'mon, it's not the regular season any more. Experience would play a huge part. 3) BOSOX / MARLINS - Who cares? I'd have to root for the Marlins. 4) YANKS / MARLINS - Yanks! Damn Marlins won it all in 1997, after the Yanks got knocked out. What more do they want?? :p

I would personally like to see the Red Sox and Cubs face off in the World Series. These two teams have been deprived of championships for decades, and I'd like to see either team win it all (preferably the Red Sox). I think the communities of Boston and Chicago should be rewarded for their faithfulness through all of those losing years; I'm a Padres fan, and I know what it's like to lose season after season, but not to the caliber of these two teams. Those damn Yankees have had too much of it, and IMHO it's time for someone else to win.

For us fans of any team or just of the sport, the worse thing we will have to endure is the television coverage and reporting of the games. The TV media as a whole has turned sports into an entertainment, self-promotional platform. Most of the time the game is secondary. Things we will have to endure: - Tim McCarver's over-analysis of every pitch, twitch and hitch (not to mention his underlying hatred of the Yankees.) - Replay, after replay, after replay, with reverse angle, super-slow motion, helmet cam, ump cam, bleacher cam, popcorn vendor cam..... - The constant repetition of "this could be Roger Clemens last start." - Close up of Joe Torre's nose hair - the innane statistic: "he's batting .333 against lefties, with runner's in scoring position, during day-games when the sun is shining, with less than two-outs, after two day's rest on artificial turf with his team ahead by more than two runs." - Camera shots of Derek Jeters parents, or Roger Clemens wife, or Manny Ramirez's hair stylist. I think I'll watch the Godfather Trilogy

I believe the Yankees have reached the World Series 5 out of the last 6 years! How long has it been since the Red Sox or the Cubs reached the W.S.? A lot longer. That goes to show what a franchise can do with a $125 million payroll.

Well, since my team is already out(the braves), I think it would be nice if it ended up with Chicago vs. Boston. The same matchup of the 1918 world series, the last time Boston has won. Now they have the curse of the Bambino. Plus the cubs not winning since 1908 is a cool fact too. I think it would be cool to see the 2 teams who have gone the longest without winning the WS battle it out.
I buy you out. You don't buy me out.

No kidding. I was joking around, y'know.
I know. I'm just having a little fun with some Yankee fans here; I'm still green with envy from the World Series of 1998. The Padres made the series for the second time in their history (the last time being 1984 vs. the Tigers). The whole community of San Diego was excited and brought together, only to have its heart broken by a sweep. There were definitley some crucial calls that went to NY during that series, and ultimately decided some games.
Sorry if I came off as a prick, Apple. It's either you're with the Yankees or you're against them, and I'm just not with them. I believe there should be a salary cap in baseball just like the other major sports. Thank you for your insight, and may the best team win!

I'd REALLY love to see the two of them in the Series! Today was a great day for baseball. The Red Sox showed up ready to play against the rested Yankees, and the Cubs just battered the Marlins pitching staff. Things are looking really good; we're one game closer from seeing the Cubs vs Red Sox in the World Series.

The wild-card in the Cubs/Marlins series is Clement. If he can pitch well, then you know the you can count on Wood & Prior for the other 2 games.
