All this chewing the rag about Fundamentals and Strategy, and you forget the third most important factor: Luck.

On any given day, the team with the worst record can whallop the team with the best record; the pitcher with the lowest ERA can be shutout by the pitcher with the highest ERA; and, the best hitters can go hitless, and the first-time rookie can hit 2 homers.

Sure, the Fundamentals of the game are necessary. Strategy helps increase your odds. But there's also some amount of Luck that comes into play when all those things fall together.

I think those people who get 100+ points for the day (and there's one almost every day) are the most lucky. None of us are at that level quite yet. Maybe next year
