L A M B E R T V I L L E, N.J. — Douglas Carroll was apparently just trying to bring some rain to drought-stricken central New Jersey, but it landed him in court.

Police said they were tired of the dry weather too, but they couldn't condone Carroll's solution: a naked rain dance.

Around 3 a.m. on Aug. 25, Carroll, 24, strolled across a local bridge wearing only a backpack, police said.

When Carroll realized police were following him he ran off, trying to put on clothing as he fled. When they caught up to him, he said he was trying to bring some rain.

It may have violated anti-lewdness laws, but Lambertville Police Director Bruce Cocuzza admits Carroll's stunt may have done the trick.

"Apparently, you know, he must have heard from some folklore that a naked rain dance would do the trick," he said. "And it rained within 48 hours."

Cocuzza said Carroll pleaded guilty to public lewdness and agreed to pay a fine. He said the department might take a more lenient approach if the area needs another rain dance.

I just put this guy on a plane to KC

Double header? Gee, when the hell did that come up 1:00am this morning? Because of the rainout? Christ what is a guy have to do stay up all night too. Seems like people on the west coast have an advantage then!

Shit anyway I can't complain, I've had a good week, but dam I keep missing those DHs. The smart move was to keep away from Boston, even with Pedro.

Looks like Soxs fever today. I hate when everyone has the same PS.

By the way I'm looking to move up another spot so watch your backs!

Problem with the DH and picking your whole team from just two teams is tomorrow is Monday and things may go up on you key players again. Good luck anyway!

Cue the rain right before the next game starts! That way you don't get anything over on the rest of us! Only fair!

Scores are going to be big tonight! Everyone with the Soxs got a good boost with them tonight. So little or no movement . What good is getting 60 or 70 points when everyone else does the same?

Well, I am off to party heaven tonight. Will check in later to see if you guys got rained out or not!

I knew nothing of the DH - I was out almost all day yesterday. So in regards to my impersonation skills below is a new one I have been working on - it is of some of the 'youngins' on the board ..

Fuck Double Headers
Fuck Pujols
Fuck Spiezio
Fuck KC and Ana
Fuck San Fran (only if they don't get me 20+ points, otherwise scratch this one)
Fuck this game (I might not play next year)
Fuck DB for making us wait for Randy McMichael
Fuck PL for taking my kicker
Fuck Randy McMichael while I'm at it

and last but not least

Fuck this guy ---->

:p

You know I feel a bit better now.

My compliments, FS.

Your total of 434 is the third highest anyone here as recorded all season.

The two higher totals, 467 (by myself, naturally ) and 443 (by JG) were recorded in week 10 of the first half, but included a day in which there was a doubleheader and scores that day of well over 100 for each of us.

Now, if you only truly mastered the fundamentals.

Then they would fear you.

More Stats:

PS W-L, E.R.A., Pitch Pts (% of total), Offensive Pts (% of total)

JG 24-23 3.78 680 (30.9) 1515 (69.1)
DB 26-20 3.19 794 (36.3) 1395 (63.7)
PL 29-18 3.59 751 (35.2) 1383 (64.8)
LD 24-22 3.81 655 (31.3) 1448 (68.7)
BD 23-23 4.15 622 (30.0) 1451 (70.0)
FS 26-20 3.69 666 (32.8) 1366 (67.2)
SC 26-20 4.35 527 (26.5) 1463 (73.5)
OA 21-25 4.30 536 (28.0) 1378 (72.0)
JJ. 25-21 4.51 457 (24.7) 1391 (75.3)

BD's E.R.A. is a beautiful repeating decimal, 4.15555555555.....

What I want to figure out next is the relationship between one's expenditure on pitching, and their total pitching points.

Spending the least to get the most is where the skill in this game kicks in.

That's gonna be a lot of work, though. I have to go back and look at everyone, every day.

Thanks PL. One thing is for sure nothing is as easy as it looks. I had a good week last week, let us see how this week starts out.

Statistics are great Pl but fixing them and getting them up is the hard part. If it was that easy we would all be odds makers and bookies!

Thruth is you could spend your whole day/life searching and researching your players and PS and for what? A happy medium between work and play is what life is all about! I think that is why I miss those DH and changes at the last minutes.

I know I will never be as good as some in this league as they seem to know so much about so many players and teams, but I will be happy for my great play for at least one week anyway!

As you said before they can't take take away from you can they!

Geoff- you must feel Houston doesn't stand a chance today hu? Mention everyone but them?

Which is this? Work or play?

Yes, I've done well, but let me assure you that I don't "know so much about so many players and teams". Everything I've needed has been right there on the website. First, I mastered the fundamentals. Then I developed a strategy. The strategy's been working, that's all.

Good Point-I started this as part as play. When it takes to much time and starts to gets to be to much of a demand then it moves over to the work. You and I both know that you have to spend the time to get these results day in and day out. So what has started as play and got me behind in the standing has now moved more towards work with better results to try and head up the ranks. How long before works gets boring? Work/Ego/Stress?

All this chewing the rag about Fundamentals and Strategy, and you forget the third most important factor: Luck.

On any given day, the team with the worst record can whallop the team with the best record; the pitcher with the lowest ERA can be shutout by the pitcher with the highest ERA; and, the best hitters can go hitless, and the first-time rookie can hit 2 homers.

Sure, the Fundamentals of the game are necessary. Strategy helps increase your odds. But there's also some amount of Luck that comes into play when all those things fall together.

I think those people who get 100+ points for the day (and there's one almost every day) are the most lucky. None of us are at that level quite yet. Maybe next year

Aren't you contradicting yourself above?

If it takes luck to get 100+ for the day, how can "none of us be at that level quite yet"?

What you're saying, I think. is that none of us are at the level of skill yet to pick the right players to have a 100 point day on a day when they are lucky also.

Did that make sense?

I'm not sure

What I'm saying is, in the "This Week" columns under our current rosters, it seems almost every day someone has a 100+ pt day. That's luck I guess, cuz no one does it every day, or that often I'd imagine.

I'm basically talking about these people who have the most consistent combination of Skill (Fundamentals + Strategy) and Luck.

We'll get there, Pop... we'll get there...

I studied Italian for 2 semesters. Not once was a "C" pronounced as a "G", and never was a trailing "I" ignored! And I'm from Jersey! tongue lol

Im not saying luck is not a big part of this game.

But picking the right players and following a sound fundamental strategy puts you in a better position to be lucky.

Which roster has a better chance of doing well, Delgado, Soriano, A-Rod, Rolen, Pujols, Wells, Sosa and Posada, or one with all scrubs?

As Branch Rickey said, "Luck is the residue of design"

PL - With all that time on your hands, you better be right behind Douche after his draft pick!

Let me see if I can draw some conclusions from your latest stats:

LD spent the most on PS, yet is 5th in PS results (You don't always get what you pay for)

JJ spent the least on PS, and got the least (But you often get what you pay for)

DB spent almost the least on PS, yet had the best PS performance, by far (Finding the cheaper PS gems is a good thing)

JG spent about the same as everyone else on Offense, but blew everyone else away in offensive points (A-Rod is pretty good; and keeping him at a cheaper price seems to be paying off for now)

LD is stuck in 4th Place (DB picks better PS than LD )

Draw your own conclusions from the stats above, if you can figure them out, anyway.

What I find especially interesting is

A) How little DB has spent on pitching, and how productive his pitching has been
B) How much Buffy has spent on pitching, and how relatively un-productive that pitching has been
C) JG deserves to be in first place, with the 3rd most productive PS, and most productive offense.
D) JJ took the Royals PS about 12 times (at 3.0), and has about 25 points to show for it.
