I went w/ my gut and I'm off to a shitty start... So let's ammend that rule... "Always go with your gut, unless you find a better choice!" Too bad y'all didn't pick the Mutts game tonight! DAMN!!

The lights in my building go off at 4:15. By 4:25 we realize that most of the Northeast is experiencing a power failure.
Do I worry about my 14 year old son, home alone, with the possibility that his mother may not be able to make it home tonight? Nah. He's a big boy. He can take care of himself.
Do I worry about his mother, possibly stranded in Manhattan until who knows when? Nope. She's a big girl. She can take care of herself.
Do I worry about my 90 year old father, who, if he's outdoors, won't be able to walk up the seven flights of stairs to his apartment, and if he's in there already will be suffocating without air conditioning? Uh-uh. He has 90 years of experience. He can take care of himself.
So what am I worried about?
A) Will the Phillies game be postponed? and B) How will I pick my team for tomorrow with my computer down?
Fortunately, though, all of the first three are OK, and I got home to good old Secaucus, NJ, and electricity.

And are the DBacks somehow prohibited from scoring more than 2 runs in a game. Suck ass game, I might not play anymore. I'm going out.

Originally posted by La Dolce Vita: DB - learn from the Master. Do not let ANYONE influence you in things of a sports nature. Oh yes, I forgot to respond to this... Thanks for reminding me, plaw! You know, Buffy, you are so full of helpful tips... home decorating, fantasy strategy, poker strategy... The list goes on and on! You are like Martha Stewart, Dr. Phil and Johnny Chan rolled up into one! Yes, that will be the last time anyone ever influences my fantasy picks. Ever. Those 15 points could have come in really handy. Vaulted me into first place, it would have. Why do I suddenly feel like Yoda. As for your other advice... Let others decide where you go to dine out... Just as long as it's not Mexican. Gives me indigestion. Let them pick out your clothes, if they have good taste, of course... Definitely if the one picking is a girl. They usually have better taste than men. Let them drive your car every now and then... It's about freaking time someone else drives. Say yes to silk scarves and candle wax - JUST ONCE... Like plaw said, "Just once?" Tell them you love their mother/boss/effeminate brother/dog/cat - NO not their hot sister... But why not their hot sister?? Reminds me of that beer commercial- the one where the guy is stuck between two roommates and one of the hot roommates says, "Why don't you just date both of us?" or the other beer commercial when the guy is over at a girl's place and her twin sister comes home and he decides to get two beers and a voiceover goes on "Never miss a good opportunity" O.K., that's enough beer commercials. All good advice (except for the hot sister part!)

Even with MY fuzzy math ability, I can see that today is going to be a mover/shaker day. Gotta root for my homeboy Dodgers - EVEN with that rookie pitching for them, gotta hope Green & Company can just hit till there is no tomorrow!! Of course I wasn't the first one to let go of Sosa...don't know if anyone else did. But I will settle on a score of Dodgers 15, Cubs 5. One point behind Pork? Gosh, c'mon! Let me enter the weekend AT LEAST at third!! That would make my day! As for commercials? The other day I was arguing with my girlfriend over beer. She kept saying it tasted great. I said it was less filling. It got really heated, it was really embarrassing - before we knew it we were causing a scene fighting, clawing at our clothes and finally ended up in the pool half naked all over each other. You'd think those beer guys would advertise better the truth about their beers so us ladies would not have to put on such a public display....

But, just for the record, I would like confirmation of the above, please.

Did anyone have trouble getting into the ESPN site last night or just me? I had a hard time with most of the sites I tried to access. I have 3 computers in the house and none of them worked for me...I was thinking maybe it had to do with the power outage??? So imagine myself going to bed without ANY knowledge of how I did other than the tidbits on Sportscenter. Must've laid there a good 5 minutes worrying about my status. *OFF-TOPIC FOOTBALL TALK* Niners are WEAK! I guess my first clue, other than seeing Jeff Garcia TRYING to convince us his back was not really hurt that bad, was when they panned over my team and I saw two teammates standing next to each other in the huddle...their names (as shown on their jerseys)?? Weary and Battle. Yep. Battle Weary. That is how I felt watching this team play. Don't worry though, DoucheMan, our bet is STILL on! Speaking of names....what about that Raider guy - Tuiasopopos ?? Sounds Greek to me! Oh and Huggy Bear's son now plays for the Raiders. That came as my most surreal moment last night. Starsky and Hutch. Now THERE was a flashback to the past!

I thought you were all tuckered out from that long post on the bad boys of the boards! Do what they do in sports, throw their asses out of the game for a while! They will hear that quick enough! By the way a point is a point and gets you the spot- Be happy! Others are not!- Nice rhyme!
