Wow, I still caught 53 points and I didn't have any players in the double header! It is tuff if you miss the double header chance and now I think I have missed three of them. Which has set me back loads. PL will be hard to live with.

OA- I guess you really have to dig more to find out about those double headers. I know our cheap ass sports section in our newspaper does not do a great job showing things. You would think they would point them out in the PS choices. They show you here the day of the game, but by then it is to late because you are locked in for the day.

I thought I had the basics down on this site but I guess it takes a whole lot more time then I ever thought to get the job done right. Find this and find that. I guess it helps if you live and breath baseball and want to check many sites or like some pay extra to join special sections.
The other thing that helps if you know more about teams and players that play across the country.

I'll take my points and be happy because I had a great couple nights out. I enjoyed myself and my lady and I had the times of our lives. Can't be two places at the same time, some things have to be sacrificed BUT, shit it is another MONDAY! More games then last week thank God. Still lots of games this season and good times to be had.

Dam, How is a guy going to get ahead when EVERYONE has the same PS?
Well, I guess that says something about most thinking in one direction.

I would be interested to hear what those NOT taking the Giants have to say!

Looks like most everyone had something better to do this weekend than hang around here.

I spent an enjoyable day today playing poker in Atlantic City at the first new casino to open there in 13 years, the Borgata. Pretty nice joint, and I did OK.

Played 10 hours in a loose game with several weak players in there at one time or another, plus I had a little luck a few times when I needed it.

Speaking of which, I guess all we SF pickers lucked out today with no Schmidt.

Do you feel my hot breath on your neck yet, Buff?

My sources tell me that the place was pretty quiet, but glad to hear you did well.

Time for me to get back into action with the BB League (which probably means I'll drop a few places).

Well, the poker room was not exactly SRO. They siphoned off a lot of players from the Trop & Taj, which are the only other two viable poker clubs in town, and I don't think they are making any new poker customers, but the rest of the place was packed on Sat nite..

Mostly kids, though, and people just having a look. Didn't see too much "high roller" action anywhere.

Hey PL - glad to hear you did 'OK' at the casinos. A friend of mine has been after me to get down to the Borgata - how is that place? From what I hear in regards to the facilities etc it is pretty impressive. Not sure how the tables are though nor the crowds.

I got caught in an unexpected family situation over the weekend, great thing to come back from vacation to  - so needless to say that my weekend was not nearly as enjoyable as yours - although I just saw that I gained a few spots in the standings with no real time spent on it. Like I have said sometimes it is just better to be lucky than good.

Too nice for AC. Definitely a Vegas type place, but compared to the high end places there, it wouldn't stand out.

If their marketing plan is to draw players from the other casinos, I guess they will do OK at the expense of some of the lesser AC joints. I can only judge by poker, and like I said, only the Trop and Taj have viable poker rooms. The talk was that both of them are hurting now, and I saw a lot of familiar faces, employees included.

If they think they're going to draw customers from Vegas or something, though, I don't think it's gonna happen. You walk out the door of this place, and there's nowhere to go. No "strip", obviously, but no boardwalk either. Just access roads and parking lots.

See comments above about the crowds and action.

But enough thread pollution.

It's taken 25 days, but the top five from the first half once again occupy the top five spots. All of us are not exactly in the positions in which we belong, but that's just a matter of time. At least for the top spot, anyway. :p

Congrats on winning week 18 PL!

As you guys know, I'm hanging out in Chicago suburbia as construction on my condo is being finished up. I haven't been able to hang out and post because someone borrowed my laptop. I had to make a run to the library on Sunday just so I can set my line-up!

I may or may not read this later and cringe, but man, am I waiting for the shoe to drop on Dontrelle. Game after game, I don't pick him because I know there will be one game that he will just be rocked . Maybe that game already came (against the Cubbies ), but for now, I'm sticking to the veterans.

Well, I think the newbies, who, with the possible exception of "Mr. I've Mastered The Basics" FS, haven't really gotten into the spirit of things here, are in shock because of their precipitous declines.

We vets may just be a little talked out. You know, Dog Days of August and all...

Our resident Internet Nazi here at work left on vacation and evidently broke our system before he left. I have had access to NOTHING (not even WORK-related!) since about 9 am this morning and I just came back up.

Wow, you boys don't talk much do you?

And what does want to crow about? Being in 2nd place? He isn't in 1st place and hasn't been in some time....

Gee I would have loved to have been able to talk today but had no time. PL - regarding declines where is the simile of the guy grabbing his crotch saying "I got your decline right here" Opps on second thought that doesn't sound too good.

And DB - so this Playstation that you got - do you play the MLB game and pick your roster from that? Is that a video game or video game like ? :p

It's video game like, because I simulate all the games that happens tomorrow, see who does well, and pick my team accordingly! You see, I only simulate them, I don't play them, making it only video game like. :p

That's apart from my Magic 8-Ball method (which I picked up after reading plaw's book "Getting to Business: How I Won the First Half of the GBB Fantasy Baseball League").

Well than I can only imagine that in your temporary housing that the Playstation made the trip and is unpacked than.

Hopefully last night during your simulation it showed Willis pitching a 1 hitter. Does it also predict the weather cause if so I am buying me one of 'tose tings'.

My brother has one so mine is currently in storage.

As for Willis, I'm sorry to say but he was rocked last night. 14 earned runs with 10 walks... You would have thought they would have pulled him out after the 2nd grand slam!

And oh yea, it does predict weather. It also predicts family events... it even showed video game footage of Phillips at the hospital when his baby was born! :p

Considering what place I was in about 12 or 13 days ago, I think I've got plenty to crow about.

About one good day's worth of points out of first, a solid win for the week, the rebuilding of my overall total lead, and the opportunity to be so close to you that you can feel my hot breath on your neck.

It's just a matter of time, now, Buff. Just a matter of time. I'm on a hot streak. You should have seen some of the cards I pulled yesterday.

Lemme tell you about the best pot of the game:

7 card stud. $10 and $20 game. I start with a pair of nines in the hole. First round is a $10 bet, 2 callers, $30 in the pot.

Fourth street, the guy to my right shows a pair of eights. He bets $20, I call, the guy on my left calls. $90 in the pot.

Fifth street, I buy a nine on board. I have three nines now. The guy with the eights bets $20 again. I call, don't raise, trying to keep the guy on my left in, who looks like a possible straight. The guy on my left raises $20. The guy with eights raises him $20 (he could have eights full already, so I don't raise). I call, and the possible straight (actually he had it already) calls. $270 in the pot.

Sixth street (what we poker players call "the turn"), I hit my a pair of threes on board. I now have nines full. The eights check. He knows the straight is going to bet, and is planning to raise. I check, knowing the guy with the straight is going to bet. He bets $20, the guy with the eights calls. I raise $20. The guy with the straight calls. The guy with the eights (turns out he was full already, but didn't raise the straight the first time because he was trying to keep me in!) raises $20 (He figures me for threes full). I raise him $20. Both call. $510 in the pot.

Last card (what we call "the river"), the eights check. I bet $20, they both call. $570 pot, I win with nines full .

This is Atlantic City. The best poker players in the east at this level (of course, there are better players in the bigger games). And you think your gonna take me in a fantasy baseball league? Ha!

Come to think of it, the only newbie left besides FS is Joltin' Joe.

And I don't like him anyway. He called me "senile" in his self-congratulatory "engagement thread"

Hate to break it to you PL, but senile is a lot better than what most of us call you. At least we have the decency to do it behind your back though. :p

And DB - guess when you were dropping in the standings is when you were unable to perform you nightly simulations - huh. And if does family things like Phillips and the baby, I can imagine Buffy over at Target tonight buying one.

And regarding if PL does not win the second half, I am thinking since most of us started late we should maybe give him a 1* - you know the * to represent not a full half. And I don't know if it is just me or not but I don't see anything on the ESPN where it lists the first half winner anymore, although I know if it does PL knows where it is.

Ok the games start in 5 minutes, I am sick and tired of my view again. Oh and if anyone likes good football, don't forget the Eagles are playing on MNF - of course they are playing the Aint's so you get some good with some bad.

SH!T - The Marlins / LA game is delayed cause of rain.

This is a pain...Used to be I only had to look at JG's and Buffy's stats. Now I have to look at everyone's.

This game sucks. I may stop playing

OK--I'll admit it. Luck is a major factor here.

And remember... I won the first half. Nobody can ever take that away from me. Nobody. Ever.

Just a few of the past "Best of PL" I am sure you all have your own favorites!

By the way PL of course the same 5-6 are on top again, Christ there isn't many others who didn't start late in the first half. I think I am the only really new player left for the 2nd half!

The guys plays a couple of Double Headers and gets ahead of us and now wants to brag till his chest bursts! You have got to love the guy.

Remember it is not over to the Fat lady sings and she hasn't even warmed up yet. Then again I bet PL doesn't take a day or even an hour off from the game. Remember friend there is life after baseball. Look at LDV she spends weekends out having fun and still made it to the top.

By the way we are only done with three weeks and how many leaders have we had so far?

Hey folks, summer is comming to a quick close and I have to get some more fun in before it is back to the campus.

Happiness to you all! and my best to the people on the top of the league leader board!
